Title for Episode 8

Yes oh wait that's taken.

 

Seeing they wont use Attack, nor Strikes again what else is there to use that is similar?
Episode 8:
1.Battle of the Jedi
2.Crisis of the Order

 

If we assume that MSW and other leaks are true and that during the spacebattle both First Order and Resistance basically loose all their ''punch'' or at least some of it - I think its bound that we are going to deal with the rise of either of two.

 

Star Wars: The First Order

 

Significant or not ive been informed, very reliably, that the production title it will be known as for the crew is "Los Alamos"

Episode VIII: Revenge of the Phantom Clones

 

Rise of the Sith

 

Obviously seeing TFA will give us a better clue as to what the possibilities for an Episode VIII title would be, but seeing as the title for VII was correctly guessed in a forum well before anything was officially known about the movie, I thought we might give it a go and see if we can't make lightning strike twice by guessing the name of this Episode before truly knowing anything about it. This is for fun, so have at it with the jokes, but I'd also love some sincere guesses as to the title of the eighth episode of our favorite movie series -- heck, even make a stab at IX while you're at it!

My personal rule (which obviously doesn't have to apply to everyone) is that there is no word repetition throughout all nine episodes (except, of course, for pronouns and prepositions).

Here are my guesses:

Star Wars: Episode VIII -- Rise of the Dark Side (a little cheesy, but a fits my criteria and the pattern of the second act of a trilogy being the darkest)
Star Wars: Episode VIII -- Shroud of the Dark Side (see above)
Star Wars: Episode VIII -- The Storm Breaks (probably a little too vague)
Star Wars: Episode VIII -- The Ancient Fear (maybe this rumored title actually came from early conversations about VIII -- very unlikely, but that's what these threads are for, right?)
Star Wars: Episode VIII -- Fall of the Resistance (might give too much away of the story for Disney's liking, but meh)
Star Wars: Episode VIII -- Clash of the Orders (IDK, this runs on the assumption that there are multiple "Orders" in this new universe)
Star Wars: Episode VIII -- Wrath of the First Order (maybe a little too close to TESB)

As for IX:

Star Wars: Episode IX -- Fate of the Galaxy (again, too vague, way too cheesy, but I had to include it just in case)
Star Wars: Episode IX -- The Way of the Force (this breaks my rule, but is the one exception I will make because I think it encapsulates what the entire trilogy of trilogies will have been about -- still, the pattern breaking bothers me)
Star Wars: Episode IX -- Journal of the Whills (just throwing it in there in case they decide to bring "Whills" back into the fray)
Star Wars: Episode IX -- The Gathering Light

I got nothing after this. I'll post more if I do. Have at it!

 

I have a few general thoughts.

It is very likely we don't have enough context to guess episode eight. I also think it will follow the general formula for the subtitles ie it will include an aggressive action like attacks or strikes back.

If I'm guessing now, the dark side will be included in the subtitle, or the word invasion.

Ok, Ascension of the Dark Side, that's my official guess.

I also previously thought Defense of the Republic, but I don't think that creates the same kind of urgency and ominous tone.

 

Without knowing the plot of either Ep VII or VIII, I couldn't possibly say. But for it to be a Star Wars title it should be direct and on the cheesy side in order to stay true to its Flash Gordon-esque serial roots.

 

I actually really like "The Gathering of the Dark" or "The Gathering Dark." Fits the more negative tone the second component of these trilogies seem to adhere to.

 

I think it'll be something a little more militant. In the pattern of the trilogies, part one deals with the Force: "The Phantom Menace" refers to the hidden Sith, "A New Hope" refers to the hope of the Jedi resurgent, and "The Force Awakens" blatantly refers to the Force; part two is usually militant: "Attack of the Clones" refers to the start of the Clone Wars, "The Empire Strikes Back" refers to the Empire winning a major battle; part three goes back to the Force theme: "Revenge of the Sith" refers to the Sith finally revealing themselves, "Return of the Jedi" refers to the Jedi finally properly returning.

Therefore, I'd say it'll be something like "Wrath of the First Order" or "Fall of the New Republic."

I have to say, that's one of the best fan-made titles I've ever seen!

 

Knowing a little bit more about the film, and incorporating the Knights of Ren mythology proposed by Revanite into the picture (which I desperately hope is true), perhaps the theme of balance or even the word itself is included in the title. Not sure how that would play out.
