    I think

    STAR WARS: THE LOST JEDI

    would work pretty good as a title. as it could refer to a) Luke. b) Ben Solo c) Rey d) all the dead jedi from the past/lukes order

    so I'd go with that so far. its not 10/10 good but I prefer it to THE FORCE AWAKENS

    Yeah, top of my list and I think makes sense. The FO will want revenge for the loss of SK and go all out vs the Resistance. Ren will want to get to Luke and also enact revenge on Rey. Snoke will be on the war path.

    However, I think there will be too types on genre that Rian Johnson brings to this film - the war movie and a kind of quest adventure film. I think the title needs to cover both and might borrow from some of the classic Japanese films of the 50's/60's.

    The problem with 'Before the Dawn' by the way is that it would follow 'The Force Awakens'.

    Sorry if this has been answered already, but the 'Forces of Destiny' trademark, has that been debunked or does it still hold potential promise?

    I remember some of the rumoured titles I heard months ago being-
    Echoes of the Dark Side
    The Tale of the Jedi Temple
    The Path of Two
    Fall of the Resistance

    The chance of it being any of those, however, is very unlikely.

    STAR WARS EPISODE VIII- JOURNEY OF THE WHILLS

    A nice play on the Journal of the Whills concept, with Rey and Luke following in their footsteps.

    Star Wars Revelations

    Yes it breaks the tradition of a four-word middle film title, but the revelations of who Rey is, why Luke is hiding, why Ben Solo went dark, how Maz got the Skywalker sabre and who Snoke is makes it my personal choice. Episode VII set up a load of questions and I'm hoping that VIII will answer most of these, and probably in IX too. Revelations is a fitting title imo, I'm not saying that it will be the actual title, but Revelations is a short, catchy easy title that may just work.

    Star Wars Episode VIII- The Wrath of the First Order

    The middle movie of the previous two trilogies involved a martial theme (Attack/Strikes) along with a firm subject involved in the film (Clones/Empire)

    This is contrasted with the first film of the trilogy having a vague and mysterious title which could refer to many different things in the film (The Phantom Menace, A New Hope, and The Force Awakens) and with the third film of a trilogy having a finality and starting with R (Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith)

    I honestly think that we're going to end up getting a title that surprises everyone. There's no rule in place that states that the movies have to follow a specific pattern - George Lucas basically had parallels between the OT and PT titles because he likes symbolism and resonance and all that jazz. A New Hope and The Phantom Menace referred to specific characters in those stories, while The Force Awakens does not. I think we need to throw the idea of there being a pattern out because it's already long gone.
