    Today marks the first Total Solar Eclipse in North America in 99 years... friends of the Cantina, please share any pictures / experiences you enjoy today!​

    Well it heavy cloud & rain showers in the U.K. But if it clears then we will get between 4 - 10% this evening so there is still hope.
    Having been lucky enough to experience one in 99 you guys are a n for a real treat.

    We're supposed to be able to see it around 1:30 PM. Just plugged in my video camera. Here's hoping it'll work out to where I can get video of it without having to look. Should really have bought speciality glasses. :)

    The UK will experience a 10% partial solar eclipse today at 19:35 hrs, just 45 minutes before sunset, which is both ironic and unfortunate. Buts it's ok, we had one in 1999 and 2015. The next is 2090.

    Likewise!! Though, I'm stubborn. In case you never hear from me again, you'll know why. My vision went out with the eclipse in a blaze of glory.

    Good to know. I was actually just planning on trying to use my phone as a viewer... I've read some conflicting information as to whether that is kosher or not. Gonna try it though...

    I'm guessing a couple quick pics / glimpses should be okay?

    I've seen three total eclipses. I know what I'm talking about. The simplest and safest method to record an eclipse is to do the pinhole in the sheet of paper thing, projected onto another sheet of paper stuck to a wall. You can then record the projected image onto your camera safely without pointing the camera at the sun.

    Never look at the sun without approved safety lenses, not even for split second. It only takes a split second to lose your eyesight permanantly.
