Well it doesn't matter if it its outside material as anything and everything since Sidney's acquisition is now canon whether it's in the movies or not...the only thing that's "Eu" is what's a legends.

Exactly. Things may come and go, maybe you were right, but for now the material is canon.

Well they HAVE aTo be canon regardless...for example: if it's now stated Jar Jar's bones are in a desert on Jakku then it's canon and if they resurrect him then his death is still canon

I understand this my friend but as I mentioned before, you can't take anything beyond the movies too serious because it can be dropped from canon in the blink of an eye. Don't you remember yars ago when even Lucas said this and that was canon and even before Disney he would just dump the said ''canon'' material just like they did with The Force Unleashed. Everything that ruled the EU from the past now rules the new canon as the movies are above all. Take Sarco Plank as an example, we already know that he met Luke a little while after the very first Death Star victory and we have his backstory. If for some reason Rian Johnson decides that he likes the look of the character and wants to make him an inquisitor at the service of Snoke, he will do it and Disney will greenlight it no matter how much the canon fans argue.

It happened with Boba Fett, C3PO and R2D2, Luke and Leia's relationship and tons more stuff and I am not surprised if it continues to happen with the recent books we are getting. Heck, I am happy that this is done sometimes as some really lame ideas end up being canon and fans try to stick every possible thing SW as canon and this is why the only thing that is serious are the movies, Clone Wars and Rebels. I remember a time when such trash as this was considered canon!

See the thing is that's all before the final product is released so in this case, with Sarco Plank as an example, he is considered canon still but he simply doesn't appear in the movie...but on the flip side is that some of the rumors we heard from MSW and other areas didn't pan out simply because they found a better thing to replace or it didn't work with the final project...but in regards to how that affects diversity, sometimes taking a character out of the finished product is meant for cost-cutting as well.

Yeah that's true but let me correct you on the Sarco Plank comment, he is indeed in the movie. Ever since I saw him I loved his look and I got his figure. I desperately wanted to see him in the film yet I was really bummed that he had been cut just like Constable Zuvio. I didn't loose all hope however as I wanted to check every nook and cranny before giving up on seeing old Plank in the movie. My efforts payed off and low and behold!

Here's Sarco Plank in all his blink and you miss him glory! And I LITERALLY mean blink and you miss him!

While I like the new aliens in TFA, there just isn't enough of them. This minimalist approach might work for some movies, but we are talking STAR WARS. Even with the OT, each film added something new and unique to the saga, not just a retread of its predecessor. And the prequels, to a certain degree, did the same. I'm hoping Rian Johnson will bring back the fresh, bold creativity to Ep. 8 that TFA more or less lacked (and I generally liked TFA, despite its shortcomings).

My main problem with the Alien question in the Star Wars Universe is that even the "Aliens" are Humanoids, please lets consider the scientific aspect of this question:

    - Life would only requires Energy to develop, existing is converting energy in other types of energy, and the Universe has so much energy to spare, stars will generate life in any corner of the known Universe. There are Billions and billions of stars in our galaxy, quazillions of galaxies in the Universe, consider around 3-4 planets a star and you would simply blown away any numbers for alien species, but the aliens might not need a planet to develop because despite being incredible harder life could simply evolve in far out atmosphere or close space under a magnetosfere while receiving energy from a star.
    - We would have way too many unicelular, simple and complex life forms and a few conscient ones, some of those conscient life forms might reach space travel technology. Therefore in a Universe traveled around like the SW we would have many different alien species.
    - Hidrogen is by far the must comonn substance in the universe and any lifeform will be generated around or using it, but Hidrogen is not only matched with Oxigen it could connects with Carbon, Helium, Metane or other elements and this would create intirelly new organic systems.
    - We know that the 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 head, 2 eyes, 2 ears, 1 mouth, 1 nose, configuration made a big success in our planet, mainly because all the living creatures on earth develop from the same succefull species, a primitive fish, but out there in the Universe theres many other configurations available.
    - The sensorial systems are a main question, even the communication organs, have a huge amount of variants available all across the universe. Just consider all the spectres in light and the very small amount of visible light humans beings perceive while other Earth animals SEE in a different wave lenght, is there a need to verbalize or vocalize the comunication, the ants don't need it.

    My dobt is:

Why all the Aliens in the Star Wars Universe have a biology like an human or a mamal? Why an Equaay or a Twil'ek have the same body parts of a creature created on planet Earth? Why all the Aliens breed Oxigen? Where are the predator Aliens?

My suggestion to this question is that the mankind is alone in the universe, at least as a sensient species, and when the humankind started to spread across the universe we were settliing here and there under very different environments while centuries of space colonization produced the mutations of the SW Aliens on the Human settlers creating a pletora of beings wich evolved from the same creature, US, and therefore all the SW Aliens are Human like creatures.

it's an easy subject for me to comment on... of course i'd like more alien looking characters in star wars.
more aliens, more spaceships, more bad guys - i just want more of everything in my films lol. damnit i'm greedy

i personally think that Lucasfilm have missed a huge trick in not getting a live version of Ahsoka Tano onto the big screen so far.
i also think that Maz didn't have nearly enough screen time in ep7, but again that's just my humble opinion.

    Second That One.

Rebels could use an all Wookie strike force in Assault. Wookies look so cool and are so poorly used on screen.

    P.S. @AstromechRecords (Astro i prefer my SW like Ep 4, Ep 5, Ep 6, Ep 7,....)

Basically we need some new equivalent to Jabba the Hutt.
Not a new Hutt, but some new alien type that's memorable and has impact on the plot.
