I will admit the official trailer (that's 2:36 seconds long) for me is hands down the best Star Wars trailer I've ever seen. In fact when I watched them do a side by side of John Boyega and Daisey Ridley watching it for the first time and saw how they reacted to seeing it, I knew it wasn't just me and I KNEW it was the best. Ironically, I watched the trailer the other day, and even having seen the movie, the trailer is still Tier 1 work. It was flawlessly done to the point where it sets the bar for the movie impossibly high. The scenes they selected paired with the music? Hands down the best IMO... and not even by a close margin.

The franchise being what it is, I have always been excited to see whatever new installment came next. With this one, once I saw the trailer I wanted to see the movie THAT day, right then, right there. Whoever put that one together, Bravo.

Agree. There's more chemistry between one freaking scene in the MF in ESB between Han and Leia than in all the scenes between Anakin and Padme. Still a better love story than Twilight lol.

Talking about that, some fans made a Modern Trailer for "The Empire Strikes Back" using the music from the TFA trailer and they nailed it! They also made trailers for ANH and ROTJ, but I think it works way better for ESB.

And I'm there with you, I couldn't wait to watch the movie after watching the teasers and trailers and I've got to confess I watched the OT for the first time a month before the TFA premiere and I loved it! So I agree, they made a wonderful work making the trailers and the teasers, and now that I watch them obviously there is an additional emotional weight for certain scenes now that I've seen the movie but I love it anyway.

Wow... the music really does play a huge role in it. That final scene with Luke confronting his vision of Vader with the light saber? That was terrific.

it may not be the best trailer but the teaser was right up there. I actually prefer the 97' SE trailers. As far as best SW film goes? I am partial to ROTJ so it comes in a close second.

I know! And I liked that if you see the trailer and haven't watched the movie, it does not give away a lot about it (you see that final scene and think it is an actual fight, not the vision at the cave in Dagobah.)

Wow! This one is great too. I liked how they arranged the scenes with the phrases. (As the one where Yoda replies to Obi-Wan: "No, there is another." and Leia appears. Agree with you: ESB is a true masterpiece.

i didn't see any of the trailers before i went to the movie. i did see the very first teaser and that was it.

after seeing the film, i went and watched the trailers and really enjoyed them, but was grateful i hadn't seen them because they would have put me ahead of the plot in ways i wouldn't have appreciated (like seeing Poe in his X-wing suit).

    they are awesome trailers, though!

I just finished watching fan reactions for the trailers... their reactions was my reaction when I saw it. And what did they say?

    Wow
    Unbelievable
    Crazy
    OMG
    Dope
    Epic

It was amazing to watch men and women, boys and girls, black and white, all have that same overwhelmed reaction, how it just took everyone's breath away. Even the foreign language ones... it's like the SW universe really is universally understood.

I agree with you 100%.IT IS THE BEST TEASER.When it starts that music bring back those GREAT memories from SW to me.When Luke is speaking about the FORCE explaining that is in his family i think that he was speaking to Rey in that moment. You have that POWER too. Also when in the teaser said this Christmas Poe Dameron YOO...HOO was in the exact place because i shout that too....:).When Han and Chewie said..."We are home" it was because they arrive inside the MF...;).REALLY TFA is my BEST SW movie EVER!!! I LOVE ALL of them BUT TFA has MAGIC....

I like this trailer, just not as much as the original trailer. But let me ask a question (and stir up some controversy).

Presumably it is Luke talking during the narration of this trailer. You know the one, where he says, "The Force is strong in my family. My father has it, I have it, my sister has it. You have that power too."

Why does he say my father has it? His father is gone, long gone. Why does he speak of him here in the present tense? Does appearing as a Force Ghost count? Is this in fact Luke talking? And if not Luke, then who?

unless there were triplets, we know it's Luke because he says his sister has it (and i don't think he's referring to Maz in that scene ~ ha!).

It seems like a reasonable assumption. The first time I watched it I assumed it was him because it sounded like him. But again, why is he referring to his father in the pretense. My father "has" it. Shouldn't it be my father "had" it?

Also, while the odds on favorite that he's talking to in this sequence is Rey... it still seems possible that he could be talking to someone else -OR- that he is educating Rey on the Force, but not at the same time confirming that she is a part of his family.

yeah, i think it could be read that he's not confirming anything to Rey. in fact, he may be warning her about Ben.

Yes, it was basically a re-arrangement of the lines he said to Leia in ROTJ (where he said "You have that power too" and then "The Force is strong with my family..."). Mark Hamill indeed recorded new lines but in the trailer they are played at the same time with the original ones so it's heard as echo.

Here is a mega-trailer - with Spanish subtitles - for the entire saga so far I found on Youtube. They made a really interesting mash-up with the previous movies trailers/teasers and the ones for TFA. Right after the teaser for Episode I, they included the TFA teaser showing Rey's face when Luke says "You have that power too.":
