I just watched both AOTC and ROTS recently. I was an adult when I first saw those two movies. And both still do it for me, in compare to TFA or its trailer.

what amazes me about this video (and it's super fun to watch) is just how obviously different the aesthetic is between the PT and the rest of it. the palette (backgrounds/costumes/fight sequences) in the PT always took me out of the story and still do.

That's kind of sad... AOTC is the weakest plot with the most wasted potential in the entire saga.
When you find realise that Lucas didn't finish a draft until 3 months before filming began, and then for the 3rd draft, he had to bring in some help in the form of Jonathan Hales.

Qui-gon and Jar Jar is a better love story than twilight.

I thought it was cool at the time... but now, it makes me cringe.

Watching these trailers again the thing that struck me the most were the shots that were never used in the finished film, especially in the teaser and the first trailer. We never actually see Maz Kanada hand Rey the lightsaber, she just finds it for herself. Wonder how the scene was originally written.

That was Maz giving the sabre to Leia.

Pretty sure (this isn't my theory it was confirmed by JJ or something) that they were originally going to bring Maz to the rebel base, to give it to Leia. But then they relaized that Maz has nothing to do there.

Plus if Leia had it, how would it end up with Finn later on? idk if Leia would give Finn what basically is a Jedi Artifact that is so special to her, to a guy she just met. Even though he saved Poe.

I think it was done better in the final film

I watch that trailer at least twice per week, and it's just beautiful. The moment Han speaks, and the drumming(?) sound is played.... wow. Goosebumps. Every time.

Ok, but now the other thing in your post. And you guys can all feel free to call me newbie, technophobe or assign more creative names. I don't care as long as you answer me: You can watch it online?!?! How, where, when, how much?

Teaser 1 is still my favorite. For the suspenseful music and wonderful sense of mystery. I'm not a fan of the unnecessarily Zimmerised trailer #2 and #3 music to be honest (#3 to a lesser extent, as it's actually pretty good until the drumming and choirs of doom from the second half). I know that a lot of people love it (some going as far as saying they prefer it to the real score) but I just don't get it.

I like all the trailers, but they don't change my experience of the movie, not does the movie significantly change my experience of the trailers. They merely now have a tendency to confirm the things I saw in the movie. I think the movie far exceded my initial expectations after seeing the trailers. I was very wary about the trailers because they hardly showed any acting or dialogue. I was under the impression that the performances would not be up to standard and that they were hiding the fact in some way. My mind was blown when I saw the actual movie. I hadn't realized, partly on the basis of the trailers, that it would be that good. That its story would have such a heart and that it did something with me on a emotional level I'd never expect it to do. For me the movie is perfect, just as Empire is. Many of you think so too, for some it will take some time to realize this. But trust me, you will understand eventually. It took some time for people to actually like ESB.

I still like to watch the TFA trailers now and then, but find that I find the official trailer especially less and less appealing simply because of the electronic music.Though it is still the best trailer I've ever seen. That says something. What I'm really a big fan of the are two teasers and the 60 seconds tv spot. They feature an orchestral score and are superior in actually capturing the feel of the movie. Especially the 60 seconds one, it featured music I could not place, but still had a distinctive John Williams feel to it. It seemed right in place. First I thought it was Rey's theme, but it ended out being Jedi Steps. It also featured dialogue which captured the tone of the movie very well as being primarily an intimate story above being a bombastic space opera. Just very well done:

I tried this but I didn't note any difference in perception.
I'm already on record saying that the trailers were deceptive, so...

That 60 second spot made me think Rey was Han's daughter :p I didn't expect Kylo Ren to be Ben Solo, nor did I expect Rey to be portrayed so strongly as a Skywalker. The trailers did their job well, I hardly knew any plot points before I saw the actual movie.

At IGN they did a little spoof on the ROTJ trailer which mirrors the ridiculous speculation before The Force Awakens

    so much truth in this.

i only ever saw the first teaser. my impression: a stormtrooper and a girl and a droid and a Vader-thing with a crazy red lightsaber--oh and look: the Millennium Falcon. i didn't try to make a story out of it, i just let those images marinate. later, i saw that Han Solo and Chewbacca were in it (makes sense since they showed the Falcon).
i assumed it would be a little cameo.

i'm willing to bet that all those "un-spoilered" people who gasped with joy when they saw Han or Leia and who had no idea Kylo Ren was their son or that Rey was FS really enjoyed the movie as i did. because they hadn't spent months and months picking apart the clues and coming to all manner of distorted conclusions about what to expect.

Yes usually the longer ones are better, these 30 seconds clips give me a headache to absorb until they were uploaded into a playlist.
