What was your Clone Theory?

Ralok-one, that's a very good point.

Weirdest theory I heard, which I think came from an ESB draft, or the novelization, was that Lando was one of the clones. Still can't figure out who, what, or why these Lando clones were... Simple workers? But by the time of ESB, Lando Calrissian was probably the only one, and nobody knew he was a clone. Something resulting from the wars, I guess. The idea seems similar to what ended up happening, with the Fett Clones dying out and being few and far between by the time of the OT.

 

The Lando clone thing was in one of the original drafts according to the Annotated Scripts book.

I also at one time thought Ben was one and OB-1 was his designation/serial number.

 

OB1 makes perfect sense. Suggests that he was the first clone, and that the clones were Force-Sensitives...

 

I feel like, at some point in the 90s, Lucas says that all storm troopers were clones. I know that has since changed, but I always imagined that the storm troopers were the clone from the clone wars, that overthrew the republic.

This was close to what I was going to say, without the excellent detail and insight.

I even thought perhaps Ben Kenobi was a clone of the original Obi Wan, as a way of explaining his "crazy old man" routine early on in the original film.

 

I always found this line a bit open to the fact back then that the stormtroopers were clones. I know it has changed since, but odd for her to say unless they only excepted six footer plus only!

 

Yep this scene was short lived.

 

Like others I assumed it was Jedi + Republic Army vs Sith + Clone Army.

How the Galactic Republic lasted as long as it did without an army of its own, or at least an army of reserves to call up, I think, is one of the largest plot holes in the PT.

 

Definitely odd that they wouldn't have an army...

It may not be a plot hole though, since they had thousands of Jedi protecting them. What kind of enemy would honestly want to come up against an army of Jedi? Only the Sith, and since they were extinct for a thousand years, no army would seem necessary.

 

Doesn't the US military have height requirements? I might be wrong.

Thanks. So in other words, Leia could just be referencing the empire's strict height requirements and not insinuating that all the troopers are clones of the same person.

 

Funny how long it can take us to realize we still carry these odd assumptions about Star Wars from when we first saw them as children. TFN had a good forum about all the different funny assumptions people had about Star Wars from when they were kids.
