Rey, Poe and Han. I can't tell why but for some reason I'm not interested in Finn at all.

Why not interested in Finn at all? First time ever there is a stormtrooper who is a character, so seeing it from their eyes? How can you have no interest in that?

After seeing Boyega's reaction to the trailer....like, call it faked or whatever....how can you NOT connect with that?

Like maybe it's cheating, but seeing his passion outside of the film, just has made Finn even more of a character now.

Just based on a trailer, Rey. For obvious reasons, for I am a lady. ;)

Her scenes didn't just work as a character introduction, but also to reassure me that there will be quiet moment in a movie full of 'pew, pew' and 'whom, whom, bzzz'. :D

And I liked how pissed off she seemed in that blaster scene.

Also, for some reason, the scene with Poe being tortured turning into mass destruction really affected me. I already love Boyega, so I am sure that I will like Finn also.

    The Originals? Hell, yeah! :)

I chose Older Han. Between the last two trailers and the information we *think* we know from spoilers, Han is experiencing a real sensation of loss when we meet up with him in TFA. Unfortunately, I'm in a place in life where that is something I relate to.... though not for the same reasons. ;)

I disagree with the premise. I feel like I don't know any of them enough to say anyone even has character. I've seen some post arguing over Rey's "amazing acting" or "overacting". From a few seconds of footage, I think people are bringing in too much preconceived notions and don't actually have much to go on.

Kylo Ren because I collect evil relics and want to build a doomsday device.

Nah, probably Finn from what I know.

Though we still don't know everything about the characters, based on what I've seen the one I connect with the most is Rey. While she seems much tougher/grittier than I am, I relate to her solitary lifestyle. She seems like kind of a loner (which is pretty interesting for a female character! Usually the loner trope goes to male characters.) And while I do have a wonderful nerfherder scoundrel in my life, I can still relate to being alone in a social sense and feeling like you are a nobody in a vast universe of colorful characters and legends.

Anyhow, I am really digging what I see from all 3 leads-Finn, Poe, and Rey. I can't wait to learn more about them.

First and foremost, I have to say that I love all of the new characters and can't wait to learn about them to see how I can relate to them. I can appreciate some sentiments above that suggest we don't know enough about them yet, although I would say we have been given some pretty strong clues so far.

Having said that, I still relate most to my favorite Star Wars character, Han Solo. (Just because he is my favorite does not necessarily mean I can't relate to him, after all we tend to like the characters we can relate to the most!) When I was younger, I certainly felt like young Han... A disconnected, me-first scoundrel. When playing Star Wars, I always wanted to be Han Solo. I was 7-13 when the movies first came out, so like Han Solo, I was discovering just what kind of person I was and that I wanted to be... the kind of self-discovery path that Han Solo took in the OT. Not that other characters didn't go on a similar journey of self-discovery... hello Luke... but the journey that Han Solo went on was one that I could relate to: learning to care about others and standing up for something important.

Now that I am a bit older (not Harrison Ford's ripened age, mind you), I feel like I am in a similar place. A seasoned man who has learned his place in the galaxy, but perhaps one who still longs for the kind of adventure he had when he was younger (and doesn't necessarily like his profession anymore). He is also one who now has the wisdom to mentor and guide a younger generation along... just as I now have kids of my own to shepherd through life. Finally, I strongly appreciate the dialogue in the trailer when Han seemingly embraces that which he dismissed when he was younger, namely the "hokey religions and ancient weapons." While maybe he is not a practitioner of that religion, Han Solo perhaps has developed a much greater sense of spirituality and what all of it means in his older age. I may not be completely there yet in my own spirituality, but I feel like I am on that path. And like Harrison Ford himself, I have a renewed appreciation for what Star Wars has meant in my life.

Anyway, I have always felt a strong connection to Han Solo and I have no doubt that connection will continue and even grow stronger in this movie. I apologize for the length of this, but if you couldn't tell, I have some fairly strong feelings about it...

Well I hope the #1 reason isn't I LIKE THIS CHARACTER BECAUSE THEY LOOK JUST LIKE ME. That's just..uh..not helping the world. That's what those Boycott trolls are complaining about, the new heroes don't look like them and it makes them angry.

None of the leading young trio hero characters look like me. I don't have that option even if I wanted it (I don't).

In terms of public persona, Oscar Isaac is the person that resonates with me most. He acts like an adult off-screen. He doesn't try to over-expose himself.

In terms of characters, I like athletic characters. Athletic characters where the story revolves around them. And have dramatic moments of trouble when their athleticism isn't enough. Like Korra from the Legend of Korra,

Lara Croft, Wolverine (solo movies), Indiana Jones, Nausicaa, Katniss Everdeen, Jade from Beyond Good & Evil, Balsa from Moribito.

And Rey "No one" fits that category. I like family stories and drama when it works.

I like what I've seen of Finn's bravery so far. What's missing is the humor. That's probably one of the most concealed or absent aspects of the production thus far: humor.

Rey, i'm not a female, and i don't think you have to be the same gender or race or even age to relate to someone, there's just something about her eyes and the way she walks that gets me.

You get good characters. If there is any princess that competes with Leia for me....my g-d if it isn't NAUSICAA. And the Avatar series is the best animated anything to come out in years.

And of course I agree it isn't race or gender that can make you relate to a character. :D Heck, I already to relate to BB-8 as well! :)

Kylo Ren for sure. He's tall, gangly, white and obsessive like me xD. He doesn't necessarily think he's being good or evil but instead doing simply what is correct, even if everyone else thinks he is crazy, also like me.
