From the canon novels I have read so far, the best are: Lost Stars, Bloodlines, and the second Aftermath novel.

Does anybody have a list of all the novels scheduled for release in 2017?

I'd like to re-read Tarkin now we've seen Rogue One, just to pick up anything I might have missed in regards to how the Empire works and Tarkin himself. Ditto, Lords of the Sith.

I have a feeling many will be re-reading Bloodlines after VIII is released!

Ah yes, I forgot all about Thrawn. Aftermath: Empire's End I will definately check out as well. Apart from those two, I hope we have some novels that will provide clues for future films/shows.

I'd read Bloodline again any day. I loved all the main characters in that book considering most of them were new outside of Leia and 3P0. Catalyst was awesome too and I really loved Life Debt considering the first Aftermath book was just okay.

It's Celebration in April, so I'd imagine we'll get a whole new release schedule then :)

I have to be honest, I've brought shame upon myself by not having read any of the new canon novels yet.

I did just start reading the Marvel Vader stuff today though, and it's pretty phenomenal so far.

Someone needs to kick me in the butt and make me finish Aftermath. I am 40% of the way through it and I started more than 6 months ago. More on point... Lost Stars is one I would pick up again. Tarkin was also very well written, in my opinion. Both are fairly quick reads.

I was lucky enough to read Aftermath on vacation and power through it in a few days on the beach.
Still working on Life Debt. Paused for Catalyst. Then I got the GOT series for Christmas...and the docket is quite full

I plowed through 10 books from August to November, but it has taken me over a month to read Darth Plageius. The book is great, but some reason I'm just really dragging my feat.

Bloodline and Lost Stars are my first picks to read again. I'd also like to read the first two Aftermath novels again before the third is released. I wasn't crazy about the first Aftermath, but I know Wendig had a hell of a deadline to keep (think he had to write it in a couple months). I really enjoyed the second one and can't wait to see what more they reveal about Jakku.

Yes, I agree. I'm looking forward to the importance of Jakku.

I haven't been reading a lot of canon, mostly Legends but Bloodline was great. RO novelization is too.

I'm jumping from legends to canon personally... re-reading Catalyst.

Keep reading!!! That book is awesome. Depending on how you know (or not) the Old Republic, the central part of the book (where you currently are, if I'm not mistaken) may seem a little long and/or confusing and/or related to many things you don't understand ; otherwise, in the case you actually know the Bane tale, then the book will connect several things from the old lore (thousands years before episode I) to the new (starting from episode I). Yes, keep reading, because the third part is... aw! orgasmic!!! There is a delightful connection with Episode 1-The Phantom Menace, that is clearly exquisite : you will really see the movie "from the dark side point of view". I bet that you will feel the urgent need to see it again, as you read the book, and even, I bet you will stop its playing at very some precise points ;) and... you know what? this book will even urge you to make a stop on a very precise scene of Episode 3-Revenge of the Sith, a one-second-shot you probably missed till now, but this time, I bet, you wil look for it ;)
Great, great book - I do think one of the best - if not THE best - of all I have read.

So is Plagueis. For "hard" SW fans, it is not just a book : it is an encyclopedia! :)

Well, I'm French, so I speak about french versions ;) so far, I've read episode 1/2/3/4/7 novelizations. Referring to that, I agree with you about their literary value, except for one: Episode 3-Revenge of the Sith written by Matthew Stover. I don't know how it sounds in english, but the french version is just gorgeous. Not only due to the fact that the book relates events that are not in the movie (particularly, it made me see Padme from a very different point of view ;) ), but mainly because the writing (once more I speak about the french version) is delightful, scholar - I particularly remember two scenes: introducing Anakin and Obiwan flying over Coruscant (i.e the space battle that opens the film), and the fight Anakin/Obiwan/Dooku which is ex-cel-lent.

Clearly, to me: Plagueis and Episode III easily catch the 1st and 2nd place - far, far away any other novel I've read so far - remember Plagueis is not canon any more.

Please, tell me: do you speak about George Lucas's original novelization of episode 4, or this is another book?
