Am I the only one who thinks that the climax takes place on Eadu, not Scarif?
A while back there was a leak that described an action scene involving Vader on a rainy planet. They aren't going to waste him in the second act, he will be part of the final action scene.
I also couldn't spot Bohdi Rook in any of the shots from the Eadu scene and from the trailer it's looking like he may sacrifice himself on Scarif.

Yeah, I get how they're rewriting Legends stuff (like Ben Solo instead of "Jacen") but Geonosis as the Death Star's base is basically canon- we see the plans on Geonosis in Episode 2.

The only thing I can think is that for some reason they may not want to destroy Geonosis (maybe there's some current canon reference to it being around during the Galactic Civil War or something), but Eadu is a little more disposable and therefore can be lasered.

I also really hope we see Tatooine in the very end. I imagine the last shot as being Leia putting the plans into R2 (shot from a distance and behind, to obscure- would be cool if it were actually Carrie Fischer, too!) and hearing "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope." Then cut to black, and a few seconds later we see the text "Obi Wan will return in Kenobi in 2020." A guy can dream.

This would be an interesting twist indeed. From all the scenes we’ve witnessed so far one could think that they steal the “turtle” shuttle on Scarif (you see Bodhi running for the entry ramp in the trailers), and they could use the shuttle to infiltrate the imperial complex on Eadu to go for Galen (there’s also a scene with such a shuttle firing in the rainy Eadu environment).

Maybe I’m misreading you’re post, but including all official current canon material regarding Geonosis, valid at the point of time before the battle of Yavin, the picture unfolds below:
    • The planet was targeted by the empire for genocide by bioweapon, there are no Geonosians alive except one Queen (Darth Vader Comic series)
    • All Imperial (orbital construction) facilities around the planet are deserted (Rebels Season 02)
    • The Death Star was moved to a different location for the finishing touches (Tarkin novel)

So they could destroy the planet if they want because it has become meaningless, the same reason they don’t include it in R1 because it would make for a boring story line without relevance. For finishing the DS, they need Kyber crystals, and those are found on Jedha and not Geonosis.

Don't we see that shuttle on Scarif explode in one of the trailers?

With that, the X-Wing attack on the shields/docking ring, the U-Wings vs the AT-ACTs, and what appears to be an injured Jyn atop that tower on Scarif, I'm thinking it's a safe bet the film climaxes there rather than Eadu. There's also that rumor about Chirrut that Jiang Wen let slip at the Comic Con that makes me think that happens on Scarif, which confuses me since we see Baze and Chirrut working together on Eadu.

    It's still possible I suppose.

What confuses me is that we have this action figure of Cassian that says that is his Eadu outfit, but he appears to be wearing that on Jedha. I haven't been able to spot him in the Eadu footage.

So the SWNN review of "Catalyst" confirms that the Iceland planet is called.....................

    Lah'mu

I feel like Disney isn't doing a great job with cool/interesting planet names.

Yeah, they're all kind of... I don't know, alienating?

OT stuff like Hoth, Bespin, Endor, Tatooine... it was all stuff that is basically nonsense words for us, but linguistically seems comforting. For English speakers, many of these new planets force us to step out of our comfort zones a little more. Not that that's a bad thing by any means, just an observation.

Though Scarif does look pretty interesting. I've always liked the idea of beach planets.

Like Tatooine, Lah'mu is named after a real world location. Tatooine after a city in Tunisia, and Lah'mu after an atoll in the Maldives. I guess both George and Gareth were inspired by their filming locations.

Looking back to the time when this thread started, it seems that we get much more new and old planets that anybody of us had expected back then.

Let’s see were all those new planets like Jedha will show up next storywise!
