SPECULATION Will Luke and Leia make it through Episode VIII?

I don't see any reason why Leia, the general, would have to be killed off. I still believe Kylo Ren will be responsible for the deaths of Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Snoke (Snoke in episode 8 and Luke in 9) I believe Kylo Ren ascends and surpasses Darth Vader, becoming the ultimate villain through 10-12. We are going to SEE the development of the next major villain, getting the "Darth Vader" we deserved to see. I think Luke makes it to episode 9. He will be a MAJOR player in episode 8 without question. I expect him all over the trailers, they aren't going to pull the same stunt again.

I agree with you. I never thought of Leia vs Hux though, because I didn't think he would make if past TFA.

I agree with Finn vs Phasma, and Snoke vs Luke.... But heres my problem..... Rey has already defeated Kylo Ren. C'mon she sliced him, stabbed him through his shoulder and scarred his face, unless Kylo Ren gets ultimate revenge in episode 8, Rey defeating Kylo Ren AGAIN wouldn't be an impact. She defeated Kylo Ren, whooped his ass, lets not mistake that. They could serve us and make Rey a villain, but I don't see it.

Rey was so strong in this film.. something HAS to be up. Maybe she turns dark dark and Kylo Ren ends up on the light side. I don't know but it's reall tricky.

 

To answer your direct question, I honestly have no idea. But I do feel someone else will die in Episode 8 or 9. I was thinking that it would be a real twist if Luke or even Chewbacca would die. And that one of them would die maybe saving Kylo Ren (am I allowed to use his birth name yet?) from almost dying at the hands of Snoke. I know the life-debt Chewie owes to Han is over, but does that continue to other family? They Kylo could kill Snoke and in a way be redeemed? I know people say they find it hard for Kylo to be redeemed but I think there's a way.

 

I think Luke will make it through 8 and 9 and possibly beyond in some capacity. Killing him off would be like killing Star Wars itself, wouldn't it? Leia, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. I can see her sacrificing herself for the greater good but it would be nice to see her get revenge on Snoke with some Jedi tricks she's got up her sleeve.

 

In the last article JJ and Arndt said they wanted to introduce Luke in the beginning of TFA but they changed their minds because Luke would have stolen the screen for the rest of the movie, result: audience would care less about Rey. This fact is a good reason to think they could kill Luke in Ep. 8 so the new gen would have all the attention for the rest of the trilogy.

 

Leia might die too and also Snoke With new heroes taking the scene. However this is not what I would like nor what I think is most likely to happen, just take into consideration that the more Luke is in the movie, the more other characters will lose relevance so this is a reason why Luke could die in ep 8.

 

I think it has to be either Luke or Leia to die. I posted a thread regarding my thoughts of Luke's death in Episode 8. But now I have a feeling of if Kylo Ren is unstable and still learning the darkside, Killing his father Han, there is a likely feeling that he might kill his mother(on accident) or Snoke might killer her with his emotions attached to her. the theory of Luke dying would be for Rey character to relate like Luke did when Obi Won died. TFA was like a combination of all SW trilogy taken pieces of certain scene but J.J. left alot open to have us fans discuss in The Cantina! Does anyone feel like it would be the sequel trilogy and maybe an Episode. 10 being a 2 part movie to finish the saga? and they are making anthologies to fill in the backstory? curious I am.

On the OT we met Leia first, then Luke and the third one was Han.

It would be interesting to lose Luke and leave Leia as the last one standing.

 

One thing is for sure and we all know it. Leia has to see her his son Ben Solo. I feel, in my opinion that Leia would die at the doings of Snoke and Kylo being confused with his feelings might go rogue from seeing his mom die. the direction J.J. started with the ST is good. so open the story and characters are. You are not invested on only 2 characters.

 

I hope they make it through to the final movie, Luke & Leia deserves their encounters with Kylo.

 

I have a feeling that in order to make Episode 8 a darker film, similar to Empire, we're seeing ONE of these 2 die.

The death will probably be as a form of sacrifice or protection. Whether it's Luke or Leia, I can't say. I believe Luke will survive though, to form a New Jedi Academy.

 

If they are actually going to do all the sequel trilogy follow the patterns of the original trilogy as they did with TFA, then Luke might die in episode 9. If we follow the pattern he will be more similar to Yoda than Obi-wan. The Obi-Wan figure for Rey was Han Solo.
