    If they're continuing the tradition of beginning the movies in media res, then having a crawl is a smooth way to infodump some context in an iconic way. I think there are many good arguments for having a crawl, and not many arguments against it, so, I wote yes.

    I vote for NO crawl, and DIFFERENT theme music.

    Kathleen Kennedy herself said that the main saga is the Skywalker saga. The classic Star Wars theme IS Luke's theme, and maybe by extension the Skywalker's theme.

    I agree with other posters here that the anthology films need to be differentiated. Save the classic opening crawl and music for the main films!

    Tough decision for Lucasfilm to make. My hunch is there will be no crawl. I think they definitely won't use the Star Wars theme, and the crawl without that theme would just seem odd.

    Yes it should have one especially since it's a theatrical film. And here is my idea of what it should say.....
    STAR WARS
    ROUGE ONE

    Darkness has covered the galaxy

    I think it will have one. How else will we know the proper setting and context of the movie. I don't know about the opening crawl music though maybe instead of the classic opening theme they have something specific for each anthology film alongside the opening crawl.

    Definately no crawl. Its not an Episode, its an anthology film. Clone Wars film didn't have a crawl and neither did the Ewok films. ;)

    I voted no crawl for a few reasons:

    1. The crawl and the accompanying music feel kinda sacred and should be reserved only for the Saga films (1-9). I know they've used it in video games, etc, but it always felt like that sorta cheapened it for me. Keep it special --- there's nothing on earth like the beginning of watching a new Star Wars film, and the crawl and Williams' theme are crucial to that.

    2. They said they're going for something different with these anthology films, so utilizing the most tried-and-true elements from the saga seems a bit half-assed. If you want different, actually DO different.

    3. These new movies will not have ANY original Williams music. Think about that --- no new JW themes in them. So why start the film with Williams only to immediately change it up to Alexandre Desplat? That would almost undermine the new guy, and would certainly be jarring at the very least. It's time to accept that a new era is dawning in the SW universe, so we might as well dive right into a whole new aesthetic. With Williams gone, Lucas gone, Han Solo gone and many more on the cast and crew gone, why try to perfectly replicate what came before?


    I'm not absolutely dead set on all this, but that's how I feel at the moment.

    I'd be amazed if it didn't have a crawl.

    It's a Star Wars film. Disney will want to keep the link as much as possible for numerous reasons.

    It will begin with some titles and historical info about the present state of the empire and the rebellion. The info is cut with images of rebel troops preparing for an opening battle. It will not have a crawl. ;)

    If there's no crawl, that leaves the question of what the opening music will be, if any. Will it start with the Star Wars fanfare? If so, what else would happen on screen while it's playing? For that matter, would the opening note of the fanfare by accompanied by the words "Star Wars" in the classic font? Or will it be the R1 logo?
