To be honest, I'm altering my expectations before seeing the second trailer. I really liked the teaser for The Last Jedi, so I hope the full trailer (and film) measures up to it.

The trailers may affect my perspectives/expectations of- what I consider to be -the peripheral storylines, (of those, the Rose and Paige Tico tale is probably the most appealing), but nothing's moving me on my scope regarding the main event of TLJ (for me):
Skywalker's revelations about what's what with 'The Force'. I'm (hopefully) gonna eat that stuff up like mad! ...And if there isn't much to it, I'll probably be disappointed.

Oh, hell- I'll enjoy it regardless- it's Star Wars! There'll be plenty to relish either way.

I had to let the TLJ teaser grow on me, wasn't thrilled with it from the first viewing. My expectations were way too high. I think I'll dial down my expectations for the full trailer. Its a different type of SW film...

BTW great trailer doesn't equal a good flick. Two good examples: Avengers Age of Ultron (What an effin trailer) and BvS to say the least...

This is a good question and I don’t think it will change my expectations for TLJ either way. As others have said, a good trailer may up my excitement for the movie (as that is what a good trailer is supposed to do). I don’t think a bad trailer will faze me one bit. I expect with TLJ we are going to get a good movie. A good or bad trailer really has no indication of whether the movie is good or bad.

For me, getting the final trailer let’s me know how close we really are to seeing the actual movie. We’re just over two months away, and so far, we haven’t heard any huge spoilers as to what happens. They’ve done a great job keeping things under wraps, and I don’t expect that they will be giving too much away on Monday night. Still, that doesn’t mean that I’m not excited. I can barely sleep knowing that we’re just a few short days away from another peek at TLJ!

I'll be expecting a good movie either way.

I do think that we may get some new perspective on the film. The teaser gave us a lot of what we expected-

    Kylo being angry.
    Finn in a coma.
    Poe in a hanger.
    Leia commanding.
    Rey learning about the force.

Even the "twist" where Luke gave his now infamous line about the Jedi ending wasn't that horribly surprising, considering the darker tone we're expecting and the fact that the film itself is called "The Last Jedi".

To be totally honest, the teaser made the film look predictable. I really wasn't a huge fan of it.

But from everything we've seen in other promotional material, this film looks like a wild and crazy ride. To be clear, despite how I described the teaser, I absolutely do not think that this film will be at all predictable. In fact, if the film has any major faults, I almost think they'll overcorrect and go a bit too zany with it (though I hope we simply get a good film in a charismatic universe).

So, I think that it would definitely benefit the movie to air a trailer that shows this movie's character a little more. And, honestly, I imagine that's what we'll get.

I am not so sure that my expectations will change. Maybe it’s possible that I will get more clearing on my theories but I don’t think the second trailer is going to be to much of a shocker.

Well, seeing footage of a movie tends to influence my opinion of a movie, just like...seeing a movie tends to influence my opinion of a movie.

Yes, trailers are very specific views of films, but they tell you lots of things.

I really hope that this trailer makes me excited to see this movie, because I thought the teaser was terrible and boring and unoriginal as heck. The film looks fantastic....in the seven seconds that wasn't obvious (we already saw the island...get over it.)

Lots of trailers are better than the movies (Watchmen and Prometheus had amazing trailers, but the films were not as good...though I like both better than most people).

I thought TFA's teaser's and trailers were great. And TFA is a fantastic film.....if you don't factor in originality of story, setting, character, etc. It's essentially the greatest fan film ever. And I like it on that level. And the trailers sell it pretty well (I see you, or rather... I don't see you Phasma)

I want to be excited about TLJ. I want the trailer to enhance my desire to see TLJ.

Trailers are commercials and a good commercial hooks you in.

A lot more wide shots of that island or Rey on that island aren't going to hook me.

It's October it's time to admit you made a movie and sell it to customers not just show stills that could have come from the last ten minutes of TFA.

I suspect it will change my view. For all that I know that I don't like about TLJ based on teaser information and leaks, one thing that RJ has probably done that should be repeated in the future is avoid giving much away. We know that Finn is on a mission and Rey is training with Luke. That's it. Most of the rest is speculation, some of which has been spoken to with great confidence and I suspect will not come to pass (in particular things said about Phasma and Rey).

I expect the trailer to be masterfully done, because TFA's was. Honestly TFA is one of the best trailers (to date) that I have ever seen. I thought it was just because I was getting Star Wars back after a long hiatus that maybe I had given it more credit than what I deserved, but I watched it the other day and it still sends chills, it was just beautifully done. And honestly, that trailer didn't give away much of the story either. I expect TLJ's to be cut and splice out of sequence like TFA and for the music to compliment the images perfectly.

Honestly, they don't even have to give me a trailer at this point... despite every articulated reservation and issue I have, I'm going to see the movie. I am first and foremost a fan of the franchise; have been since the original ST.

I'm hyped beyond imagination for the movie so unless Skywalker himself sports a pink dress and makeup, I'll stay hyped after the trailer ;);)..

100% agree with everything except the last paragraph. If there was no trailer, I'd think the movie was just Rey and Luke staring at each other on the island. That's all the teaser and the marketing have been so far. And so much of the ST was people sitting in semicircles talking in British accents.

I don't think TLJ will be just them staring at each other on the island, but I don't have any evidence so far.

LFL sold catalogs as magazines for years. I just have to see something to prove there's a movie there because they've shown basically nothing.

There's a difference between avoiding spoiling the movie in your marketing and having a lazy repetitive marketing campaign.

I'm really hoping they stop doing the latter and do the former starting Monday.

Agree with your point but we (you and I and everyone else on this forum) are pretty much invested in the franchise. We're going to see it regardless of how much of a carrot they give us to chase, and the proof of it is that we are on a forum discussing what will be in the trailer. The average fan doesn't care what's in the trailer, certainly not enough to be on here like we are. We're going to see it no matter what. So I suspect it will be a product (the trailer) that draws in the GA

I do agree with @Lobot in a way, though. When I think of TLJ, the prototypical scene is actually still the cliff scene. I think that was cool earlier in marketing, but it's time to shift from that now. We gotta have something else meaty to dig our teeth into, wolves that we are. :p

While I don't think they could use the actual BTS footage, the in-action scenes from the BTS footage probably would've been plenty for a trailer. I like that they're giving away less. For me (emphasis on "for me") there is enough meta data out there already for us to have a general idea of what we'll be seeing without spoiling what we'll see.

That trailer has been in mind since it was first announced. Whether it's what I expected or not, it'll be the only thing keeping me patient until The Last Jedi is out in theaters. I watched The Force Awakens on Christmas Day and it might be similar for me this year too.

    Well... NOPE :)

I am already really excited about TLJ, there is just that much I can take.

    I predict the following though:

The Last Jedi will beat The Force Awakens in advance ticket sales.
