SPECULATION Wishlist for the canonical star wars games.

I want Star Wars games in the styles of Assassin's Creed and The Legend of Zelda.

 

An Assassin's Creed style Star Wars game would be the best game ever.

 

If bethesda game studios made an open world Star Wars game then my life would be complete! Bethesda>Bioware anyday!

 

I'm dating myself with my early love for Rebel Assault, Tie Fighter, Dark Forces 1,2, Rogue Squadron - more recently Jedi Knight/Academy, Battlefront, KOTOR and TFU - okay so all of them

Outside of Battlefront, we need another KOTOR/Mass effect type open world or space combat game, but I would love another first person shooter Dark Forces style. No progression to becoming a Jedi Knight. You could wield the saber throughout the game in a crude way, but never master it as a weapon - be a courier delivering the saber or something. Also, what about a COD style game from the perspective of a stormtrooper/empire - wont happen with Battlefront, but I can dream.

 

Would love to see a remake of the X-Wing/TIE series with multiplayer online battles and a canon series of single player campaigns that included most of the current gen consoles. Maybe even local network/split screen multi player capabilities for the campaigns. I'm a little disappointed that I most likely won't be able to find a way to play battlefront because of the limited platform release it is getting.

 

For me, I would love to see some great Star Wars game series get adapted into the new canon, by that I mean basically rebooting Legends games to fit within the new canon. For instance, I would absolutely love to see a reboot of the Dark Forces series, reintroducing Kyle Katarn into the new canon. Obviously there would have to be some major changes, for instance Kyle would no longer be the individual responsible for the theft of the Death Star plans, but that would be part of the fun, seeing the contrast between what has changed and what has stayed the same.

Game play wise I would absolutely love to see another space flight sim in the vein of the X-Wing game series. I also want to see another game that has light saber content like the Jedi Knight games, where a light saber straight up kills something when it slashes it, not like the Force Unleashed where you had to slash enemies over and over again to defeat them. An open world Star Wars game in the vein of games like Skyrim would be amazing as well.

 

I'd like an arcade style beat-em-up. Like the old X-men or Ninja Turtles arcade games. Just go through the entire saga. From Quigon and Obi Wan on the Trade Fed Ship to Luke vs Vader/Palp. The Han/Greedo level would be short. As long as you shoot first. I guess sortof like Jedi Power Battles but with the asthetics of a modern Double Dragon or Streets of Rage. HD 2D sidescroller. Could be fun if there are tons of hidden characters and unlockables. Maybe you change the entire saga by which character you choose also. Play the entire game as Vader or Mace Windu or Yoda. Play as luke but go Dark. So there would be a few decicion moments in the game. Just an idea and now I'm rambling.

I don't know. Bethesda, while they make great games, are also hit and miss e.g. Fallout 4, The Elder Scrolls Battlespire.

 

A game like Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast is all I need.

 

You're dead on here!! Add in support for a Thrustmaster style flight stick and some VR missions and this game would be a hit AGAIN!!!!

 

- An open world Assassins Creed type game would be great. Play as a bounty hunter and stack up gear like new blasters, jumppacks, and even a lightsaber! Set across cities in Nal Hutta, Tatooine, Dathomir, and Ryloth.

- Bioware. Either KOTOR3 or something new. But definitely Bioware.

- Bethesda would be interesting. Not sure they'd be able to handle something as big as multiple planets, though. Maybe smaller maps- a Corellian city, a Mandalorian city, a Kashyyyk village, a Sullustan factory. Flying handled in between, with hyperspace used as a sort of fast travel. Could be fun.

- Netherrealm- A fighting game. Don't do teras kasi. Give us only force users, from all eras. We could see Mace Windu v Kylo Ren, Darth Vader v Rey, Plo Koon v Revan. Cool stuff like that.

- Taleworlds- The Star Wars mod for Mount and Blade is excellent. If the company itself had the licensing, they could make a hell of a game.

- Telltale- A telltale Star Wars game could be wonderful! Something canon- maybe set in the Old Republic, or between ROTJ and TFA

 

First and foremost, I REALLY want to see a Bethesda-style open-world SW RPG. The only problem there is, it would have to be such a huge game in order to balance transplanetary travel with decent-sized maps on each world that I'm not sure even the most souped-up gaming PCs could handle it, let alone any of the consoles. So, realistically, we'd be looking at a small handful of planets, each with a fairly small and limited map.

That said, it'd still be a fantastic SW gaming experience, even if there wasn't a vast expanse of explorable area in it. Bethesda's game worlds are always so immersive, and there's so much to interact with, so many opportunities for storylines interspersed with cool little one-off missions... being able to experience that within the Star Wars universe would be unbelievably fun and fascinating.

Running a close second for me would be a long-overdue SW flight combat game. Much as I loved the Rogue Squadron games on the Nintendo systems years ago, at this point I think they need to get away from stringing together a bunch of disparate game levels (fun though they were) and dive back into deeper, mission-based flight combat games along the lines of the old X-wing, TIE Fighter, and X-wing Alliance PC games. With the current-gen consoles and the degree to which PCs can now be cranked up, they could really knock it out of the park with a good X-wing game.

 

Uh, you do know that Respawn [Titanfall] are making one too, right?

 

I just hope it's something completely different from Titanfall. Titanfall is excellent, of course, but with SW: Battlefront being the only major SW game to come out so far during the Disney era, I think we need a bit of variation on the MMO "SpawnDieSpawnDieSpawnDieSpawnDie" concept.

 

They could do a game set a Long, Long, Long, Long Time Ago before that many planets were discovered. It could be more about exploration. Maybe Coruscant, Corellia, and Duros are the only known planets. And you get to go out and find new worlds and blaze new hyper-routes (Trek style, but in the GFFA). Then releasing expansions (which EA LOVES) would make a lot of sense. So the entire galaxy doesn't have to be created all at once for one game. I could be a completely different kind of Star Wars.

And yes I would love a good star fighter game.

Also, I would like to have a campaign mode with splitscreen and online splitscreen in any new FPS that they churn out.
