Rumor has it that Lando is returning in Episode VIII to "avenge a friend" - Rey/Kira can provide support to Lando and let Lando to the avenging/revenging...

Rey will definitely be seeking revenge after Kylo cuts her hand off in Ep. 8.

What will Rey's jedi style form will be? I guess Rey's style will be more of a form 4 (a la Yoda, Qui Gon, etc)

There's really no way to know at this point. We've not yet even seen her hold a saber.

Do we need a new thread for this? Honestly this could be discussed a number of other threads relating to either Rey or duels.

Not sure if she's force sensitive or not. Plus, no formal training (opinion of mine), so probably not much of a style yet.

I don't recall where the forms originated? Are they canon? I thought they stemmed from an old videogame. But I could be wrong. I didn't pay much attention to EU material during the PT era.

That's if you take to mean "forever will it dominate your destiny" to mean you will always be evil. Because I think it is a broader sense. After all while Anakin was redeemed his destiny though achieved (balance the force/stop the sith) he will still be remembered as Vader.

Can you elaborate? I don't quite follow. Are you saying the quote means "if you do bad stuff people will remember?". Would Vader have been able to balance the force is he didn't turn to the darkside?

No I mean that the Dark Side is part of his legacy. Even though he turned back his years of service to the Dark Side are what he will be largely remember for. Remember also these words were a warning to Luke not necessarily a universal. Yoda's warning is not that you won't save your friends cause he might. Its that the would be potentially be lost to evil. It could be that Luke might kill Vader with the help of the Dark Side only to be now so lost that the Emperor might easily seduce him. Or even that he kill both Vader and the Emperor but he wouldn't be the last Jedi he would be the last Sith. The warning is not so much that redemption isn't possible but that there would deep and significant consequences.

I noticed yesterday that our new leads share similar traits of character as those of the OT.

    OT:
Luke: Neutral, interested in what's going on off world. A farm hand.
Leia: On the side of good. A royal princess.
    Han: Questionable background. A smuggler.

    ST:
Rey: Neutral, scavenging relics from years gone by. Lives in an AT-AT.
Poe: On the side of good. A Resistance pilot.
    Finn: Questionable background. A stormtrooper.

I'm honestly leaning this way. I'm thinking she is Luke's-

    1. We have an entire trilogy to explore Rey's background. Eventually her search for her mom would be a good story and probably an important piece of hers and Luke's arc.

    2. Han dying to save someone he doesn't know is his daughter is borderline depressing. Han saving his niece/lost best friends daughter takes a little edge off.

    3. I don't think Abrahams can resist having Luke say to someone at some point "no, I am your father" or a twist on that phrase. Maybe even the last words said in 7.

    4. Not everything will be revealed in 7. My guess is Rey has a mom to learn about (or find) and another sibling or something.

    5. I just gave this feeling everyone us assuming she is a solo isn't right. I think it will look that way at first, but I'm leaning Skywalker.

    6. Han sees a flashback, realizes she is his daughter and doesn't take her home for a reunion with Leia, never to let her go again? Nah, I think he realizes she is Luke's daughter and he is more motivated to reunite his old friend with his kid. Hero.

And....7. Mystery box. You think the movie is about returning Luke's long lost light saber. The saber is lost, moving from hand to hand so to speak.

But it's not about that at all. It's about returning Luke's long lost daughter. As helping hand after helping hand aid the process.

Wait, so Han thinks Rey is dead by an attack on a Jedi academy....he is reunited with her...his thought dead little girl....but rather than cherish the second chance, they go on a mission to find the Jedi who she was training with????

I think Han dies trying to reunite his old friend with his (Luke's) thought dead daughter. Han is a hero, not a reckless deadbeat dad.

    Rey is Luke's.

Mystery box makes us all think the movie is about returning Luke's saber, but it's actually about returning his daughter.
