Serkis' statements and rumors. Anybody following all along could be inspired by these reports.

He says that his role is a cameo: "I’m not playing a main character, it’s more of a cameo role." TimeOut Dubai: "I’m playing cameo roles [in Star Wars and The Avengers 2]."
He says that his character prefers lightsabers to blasters.
He said that his character voiced the teaser trailer: "There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?" "The dark side... and the light..."
He implied that the dialogue from the teaser trailer is in the film.
He said that his voice was unaltered for the teaser trailer.
He denied Jedi News report that he is playing multiple roles or leading a group of acrobatic characters.
He said that his "character …” [long pause] “He’s been through some stuff.” "I have to be very careful about how I answer these questions."
He declined to answer if his character is motion captured or not.

Hitfix says that Serkis is "playing a pivotal role in the film, although he will not have a lot of screen time."

Fan site Jedi News says that Serkis is "playing more than one role in The Force Awakens." "One of those roles is, as expected, motion capture based - and in that role he will be part of a 'group of unbelievably athletic and acrobatic motion capture characters.' Also bringing those characters to life is parkour expect Pip Anderson, and 'whom I [the source] believe to be Crystal Clarke.' "The second role for Serkis sees him take on a 'pivotal role in the first act story arc that entwines with Daisy Ridley's backstory,' and that role 'may have more to it than it seems in the first instance.'"

Fan site Star Wars Underworld says that Serkis' character "looks like an old man, zombie like, almost risen from the dead." "He is being referred to as 'Uber', similarly to how Ridley is being called Kira and Nyong’o is being called Rose." "'Uber' has communication with Adam Driver’s Sith character, and a character played by Domhnall Gleeson. Serkis potentially is the Master pulling the strings from behind the scenes." "All three characters are part of the new “Empire” which Gwendoline Christie’s character is also a part of. She is confirmed to be playing a Chrome Trooper."

Fan site MakingStarWars said that "Uber" has a small role in the film, where he communicates with Adam Driver's character and Domhnall Gleeson's character. (link 1) (link 2) (link 3)

StarWars.com reported that Andy Serkis is portraying a motion-captured character going by the title and name "Supreme Leader Snoke".

 

From my vantage point, it doesn't add up. The creature in question, the bar, and all that are at the Exotic City as far as I know. So it really doesn't make much sense to me.

I can't debunk anything. But I can say it would seem like a HUGE reorganization would have to have taken place in mid-2014 for this sequence of events to transpire during filming and that seems unlikely.

Once again, I'm not a debunker. I'm not telling you what's wrong or right. Just that the alien in question and those things appear to be in the exotic city as far as my materials are concerned and that is not the sand planet.

Well, that's just fan art/manip someone made and she reposted. I wouldn't count on the weapon looking like that. A guy claiming to know an important member of the production in a certain capacity claimed recently on Facebook that they learned from them that the character in question is a Jedi.

 

We live in a much more cynical time then when Star wars came out. Sure hope they don't go the gritty game of thrones route. Maybe Rey IS a Skywalker.. (Leia and Luke's). It's not like there is no precedent there xD

She's a plot devise and nothing more so, she will die before the end of the film and will be replaced by Maisie Richardson-Sellers as the new female lead in the next forthcoming films.

 

Like previously mentioned, maybe this scene is finally introducing the Whills, or atleast members of the Whills. It would be awesome for such a deep Star Wars concept that never could be grasped, like the mythical Force, to finally be glimpsed at. I can really be behind the shaman comcept. As a kid these guys were the biggest mystery to me, the ones I could never find more ingo to other than book lines and script work. This could, if played right, really be a huge part of the overall Star Wars saga finally emerging.

Not happening. Daisy is the only one of the new cast that is announced to be signed for all three movies

Not announced. But the most important thing to take away from this is 'plan is for her carry through to the second and third films'.

 

True or not ! I realy like the ideas presented here , it all sounded very plausible !

I realy hope Serkis IS this Alien leader as described and NOT the old decreped looking moustache twirling Ancient Sith Empreor type as has been previously heavily reported ! Been their , Done that , Got the T - Shirt !

 

I think this is definitely interesting. I stated in my 10 predictions that Serkis would not be a villain. If this rumor/spoiler is true I may not be as crazy as I sound given the overwhelming prevailing theory is that he is the villain

It says, will be making appearances, but we are just splitting hairs. Either way, @p03 comment is way off base unless it was just said in jest. in which case I missed the sarcasm.

 

I've been wondering myself if Serkis really is a villian. I think there's a strong chance JJ put Serkis's voice in that trailer just to make everyone think he's a bad guy. His voice does sound sort of creepy. But maybe that's to make everyone think he's a villian, when in reality he's playing someone else entirely. Who knows. Either way I find it funny that everyone jumped to the conclusion that Serkis was playing a bad guy just because they heard him say a few words in the trailer.

 

Serkis' voice-over is more an overview of the rumblings in the Dark and Light sides of the Force and no obvious commitment to either on his part. He sounds like a Yoda/nasty-mode Gollum hybrid, so again could lean either way. Some of Yoda's dialogue in ESB would sound ominous if removed from its movie context and layered over scenes of menace in a trailer for a movie whose script we know little concrete about.

 

He probably thought Chloe Bruce was her own standalone character.

 

Didn't actor Oscar Isaac recently say most of the Star Wars rumors and speculation were way WAY WAY off?

The whole thing with OT light sabers seems SOOO lame and played out.
Why would these characters need weapons from 30/40 years ago? What would be sooo important the Imperial troops would KILL entire villages or level cities over? One light saber? Naaaah.....
