Yeah, next thing you know they'll be calling the enemy troops "Stormtroopers". Have they no shame?

I think it also comes down to the fact that for movies, the use of fascist regimes from hilter onwards have always tried to "recreate" that strong statesman atmosphere to the level he did. An considering fascist regimes place so much significance in the pride of miltarism, i'm not surprised we see call backs.

Hux is in the front. Snoke is rumored to be an alien with serpent features if I recall.

But can we truly see enough of the front character's features to be sure? Doesn't look like Hux's get-up to me....

And given his title is Supreme Leader, you'd think it would be a role he'd assume, at the front, leading.

Star Wars had those real life refferences all the time I don't get the fuzz now. Nazi in the Empire(Vades/Imerials), Vietnam and even Iraq + emergency laws in the prequels, thats not something new.

We shouldn't focus on Nürnberg/Nurmberg(that was a party convention of the NSDAP) they didn't invent those mass conventions or parades. all the way this scene is very different. It blends millitary parades, with all the diffrent military chapters and mixes a it with an army ready to deploy for battle, its an amazing shot, less action on the screen the intimidating scenery just comes by a simple camera movement.

I think it takes element of military parades like for example Stalin era at the Red Square

Not in a bad way, but something about this new shot looks very old school G.I. Joe to me. The banners, the cool vehicles in the background, the costumed leaders..

Having lived in Germany for a time I understand where you're coming from.

For those who don't know Germany still has strict laws concerning the depiction of the Nazi Regime. There have been issues in the past with games such as Wolfenstein and Germany wanting no part of it in their country. The fear being that any depiction of symbols from that era will lead to glorification of the regime. I don't think those laws have changed since I left but it is possible

However, Nazi imagery has already been used in Star Wars and this is a simple continuation of it. Even the Rebel Alliance has had its share of connections

Could be a nice little contrast between these new walkers and Rey's bombed-out AT-AT home on Jakku, no?

    No they didn't.
Gloryfication is one part of the problem another is that some of the younger folks don't want to be reminded all over again, because they are not responsible for the past.
But for most people here suppression (psychological term) isn't the way to go, just remeber how things came together and some of the modern day conflics are easier to explain. I think its still a modern theme and there are still dictators around all over the world, they are using some of the same startegies even today, so it still has a relevance. Star Wars is about wars, lust for power, greed ect. and how to overcome the. Good vs evil, so you need tools to describe the evil and it makes sense to use real life refferences.

Reminds me of scene from "Die Welle"

Translated from German and from his goofy third person way of talking- "I'm a Turk man, I'm not responsible for that"

It's based on the Third Wave experiment just switched to take place in Germany to make it more impactful

It isn't connected to the Stanford Prison Experiment but that one is getting its own film, which may have already been released.

Two famous cases of sociological studies that spiraled out of control
