Don't know what you're objecting to here.

If you don't count me as a mate, then that's alright. That's your choice, but I count y'all SW fans as mates.

If your objection is gender based, I can only inform that "mate" is gender neutral in my neck of the woods.

If you just don't like me, well that's ok, too. It's your prerogative. My apologies for engaging.

Says who? Why? Because of the title?! Why is that even an issue?

Look, I comprehend the words of what you are saying, I just don't understand the point of the argument. There is plenty of debate to be had about Mon and Cassian's story arcs. For the
life of me though, I don't understand the basis of your argument. Do you feel deceived because of the title? Do you not see the contrast AND parallel to their stories and the value of that in the overall arc? Do you not trust Gilroy & Co. to more directly tie their arcs together later in the series?

Toxic discourse??!? No flaming??!? Posters to this thread have gone out of their way to be polite to a poster who has repeatedly offered up the same criticism over and over and over again. Personally, I've marveled at how many different ways others have tried to thoughtfully and respectfully address the concerns expressed. Your post raised the temperature more than anything that's been posted here.

I haven't seen any real sign that Mon Mothma's arc had anything to do with Cassian Andor's arc. Certainly not in Season One. Sure, Mon's cousin had participated in the heist with Cassian. But that had more to do with Luthen, not Mon. As for whether Gilroy and Company have plans to tie Cassian's arc with Mon's in Season 2 . . . well, I hope that happens. But since this never happened in Season One, I saw no real reason for Gilroy to waste so many scenes featuring her actions and life during this first season, when they had nothing to do with Cassian. Is it hard for you to accept that others might have their own criticisms about the series? Or are you going to continue trying to get me to change my mind?

The Andor series is a prequel of Rogue One.

It hasn't been depicted on screen, but I do believe Mon and Andor are connected through a middleman: " Luthen" Perhaps, season 2 will reveal their connection.

Here's another possible connection: Cassian is a rebel in the war against the evil Empire and Mon is the leader of the rebellion --- in other words, you know, His Boss. :) ;)

You have seen Rogue One, right? Mon Mothma and Cassian Andor LITERALLY work side by side. They are connected. That is canon. The very fact that five years prior to them standing in that Rebel Alliance control room interrogating Jyn Erso, they have no idea each other exist, yet they ARE already tied together through Luthen and Vel... That is the point! You are treating it as if it is bad writing, or something that was neglected. In fact, it's the complete opposite.
SPOILER ALERT Mon and Cassian are going to meet. Of all the characters and arcs we saw in season 1, other than Cassian's, Mon's is the only one that we know will continue on past this series, yet hers is the one that you have deemed unnecessary?

As far as my acceptance of opposing thoughts and feelings- you're barking up the wrong tree there... I enjoy a good debate. I'd prefer that they were based on a tangible, clear thought process, although, obviously that's not a firm requirement. I'm here to discuss and to learn from other's perspectives.
No, I am not here to change your mind. That's not even how it's supposed to work. You have to change your own mind for it to truly be meaningful. If I, or anyone else here, present an opinion or thought that gives you reason to change your mind, why would that be a bad thing? That's called learning. Evolving. When I was six, I believed that Santa delivered presents on Christmas. One day, my friend, Joey told me that Santa wasn't real. My parents confirmed this. I changed my mind on the whole Santa thing. I could have told Joey and my parents that they were wrong, and to just shove their ideas you-know-where. I would have been one bitter, angry 18 year-old that first Christmas in my own apartment wondering where Santa was.

    Antagonizing the poster???!?

I suppose there's nothing wrong with a poster harping on a nonsense issue when its obvious why Mon is featured in the series. But when that poster continuously complains about the same issue in post after post, at what point is that behavior not considered 'flaming?'

How in the world is THAT not antagonizing other posters in a thread on the Andor series finale???

But @MBWilson asking the OBVIOUS question since the two characters were in the movie, Rogue One -- on which the Andor series is based BTW -- is somehow a moderator hand-slapping no-no?

Nothing extraordinary happened here yet. Just a small reminder before anything gets wild. Just keep in mind that things you might see as harmless might already be harsh to someone else, especially online.
"Please disperse. Nothing to see here."
Now just go on discussing Andor. Just keep our netiquette in mind.

I wouldn't describe Andor as dark and grim. Thrilling, yes. For me it had the perfect balance.

I think most of the descriptions of Andor as grim were early on, and based on the fact that we know Cassian's eventual fate. There are some grim moments along the way, but after the finale, I would absolutely agree with thrilling. Maybe even uplifting and inspiring.

Well I finally finished season one. I was very excited through episodes one through three but after three my level of excitement lowered and never built back up to the former level. I felt like it was building me up but what it finally DID build up to was IMO totally underwhelming. All in all it just didn't do it for me but there we're many aspects of the show that I enjoyed. Some of those Coruscant close ups of building exteriors we're jaw dropping. The visual effects of the show we're definitely 10 out of 10. We'll see how the next season pans out. It may pick up in pace. Hey at least we're getting new star wars and that's always a plus.

It's a gender matter. I didn't know that women were referred to as mates.
