Can we this time around have new planets that are more original?

I get that Jakku needed to be a desolate place, to convey Rey's lonely and unpleasant upbringing, but you can do desolate without doing a identical to Tatooine desert, such as these terrains: I would've liked to have seen Jakku be a Mexican type desert or a dry savannah. (yes, this is nitpicky stuff, I loved TFA)

 

There are some really cool planet concepts in The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens that feel a little more alien and otherworldly than what we ended up with in TFA. That's not to say that I don't like Jakku, D'Qar, Takodana, and Ahch-To. But I hope they draw some inspiration from those unused concepts in VIII or IX.

It would've been cool if Jakku had looked more like this and less like Tatooine.

As for planets, I agree, they need to create more unusual planets. Even interstellar with the ice clouds and tsunami planet was different.
I'm excited to see the crystal caves if they decide to film there. And ep9 will have some real space shots if CT has his way. Hope they can CGI it a bit more though.

 

Agree. I do like the look of the Dubrovnik planet so far though. Seems like it will be pretty different.
