I heard the term Warlord being thrown about by G@BRIEL GR@Y on his (now deleted) twitter account, and saw the conversation being thrown between him and Jason from MakingStarWars... it started with GR@Y talking about having seen this picture of Hamill as Luke and the surprise to come, then he and Jason started talking about the obsession with augmenting parts, something about skin grafting, and the loss of family that changes him inside and out... from the tone, it was pretty clear they were saying Luke was the Warlord... both of them know far more about it than me, and I was just glad to tag into it, and copy part of it out to save since GR@Y's account got deleted like then next day...

To the best of my knowledge, GR@Y was the first to use the term, but he was using it pretty freely with Jason, and both seemed comfortable with the title. We have only been using "Grave Robber" and "Dark Knight" due to the titles of the concept art pieces (also Zorro) and the titles could have meant anything (up to and including just being the title chosen by the person copying the pic) Warlord is the first one I have seen being used by someone who knows what is going on, but his reasons for using it are unknown to me...

Excellent response! Thank you! "Warlord" is an interesting title carrying interesting connotations! Most recently I have seen it used in association with tribal leaders in Afghanistan who use fear and violence to maintain control of the territory they claim. I have no idea if Jason or Gabriel had such associations in mind when using that title, but if they did..... well, seems like that character may have (at least) experimented with things associated with the dark side. I'm not saying that makes them a villain, after all, Ben Kenobi used fear to scare away Tusken Raiders and I doubt anyone would label him a villain.

A brief aside: Did I read in another thread that English is your second language?

Hopefully, they will speak for themselves on the subject... Jason is a regular poster here... but I think the most direct definition, "aggressive regional commander with individual autonomy." is potentially fitting. If Luke has gone commando, with the Massassii temple on Yavin IV as their HQ (and the "castle" nearby) with Boyega being a student of his on a mission at the beginning of the film, it would tie a lot of things in.

Oh, one other detail, I forget where... but... this Warlord is supposed to be the commander of the chromies... which might further tie Boyega in as a "special ops" stormtrooper and still explain why Daisy would help him instead of shooting him on sight...

No doubt, his ten minute scene in Calvary (a great film, btw) with his dad no less, showed me he's a talented actor and would make a great villian.

I agree. Domhnall is a very talented actor. I'm sure he could pull off a villian of some sort. BUT he's really good with comedic timing and going through a range of emotions.

You know I haven't thought of that angle. What if Boyega's character is a trained Jedi on a covert mission to get a certain saber back from a certain baddies collection. He's not a AWOL chromie at all and get's one-up on the bad guys humiliating the "Knight Trooper" leader (whom I think will be played by Gwendoline Christie) who goes on a do or die mission to retrieve it setting up the motivation for the minor villain and hinting at the major villain lurking in the shadows. Heck people, we may not see the big baddie till the end of this thing or EPVIII even.

All of this because wants his favorite lightsaber back? He's already built a new one. I think we're all not privy to the main plot point, what are they trying to prevent happen? What are they trying to get a hold of? A lightsaber and a burnt up helmet? Really?

It's not just any light saber its Anakin's/Luke's blue saber but I do take your meaning. Even for a collector going to such lengths to get a few items seems extreem. What do you get the Sith that has everything for X-Mas? Relics! Light saber hunt or not if Boyega is a "Chrome Trooper" I like the idea he is on the run because he is secretly a Jedi on a covert mission to infiltrate the "Knight/Chrome Troopers." You're correct though, we are all speculating like mad, none of this concept art could pan out. All we really have to go on is a few supposed "trusted sources." Just fun to theorize and see what sticks later.

I keep going back to the idea of a cold war... lots of intrigue, secret plans, secret weapons, double agents. What we think we know is only very surface related.

I could not like your post enough. Going through such extremes for odd items seems pretty pointless, unless you are an archaeologist, historian, or have eccentric taste. None of these scenarios really seem to fit Star Wars.

There are a couple of theories I can think of that might explain the purpose of this strange obsession:

    1. The items are needed for some sort of resurrection ceremony

    2. This process is used in discovering the next incarnation of a character, which is comparable to selecting the next incarnation of the Dalai Lama. To clarify, before an incarnation of the Dalai Lama dies, he reveals when and where his next incarnation will appear. His followers are trusted in his discovery by going to that area, and showing potential incarnations (very young children) personal items that the previous Dalai Lama owned or held dear (prayer beads, sandals, e.g.) as well as fake ones. The real incarnation of the Dalai Lama is believed to be able to distinguish between the real objects from the fake ones. The grave robber could be implementing a similar method here.

Considering Lucas' and Campbell's interest in different religious mythology, I could see them toying with the idea. But Anakin is already a good force ghost. Are there Sith acolytes obsessed with Vader? Possibly. But perhaps there's something about the relics themselves that lead to a type of hunt for clues or codes, that allow entry into a secret forgotten base/weapon. Lots of possibilities.

Perhaps the relics are the long lost missing pieces of a much larger puzzle.

The good guys find the pieces first, all would be well with the universe.

But if the bad guys find the pieces, all hell will break loose, and a huge unprecedented cataclysm will occur.

The good guys absolutely have to find the items first, at any cost...

Also considering how the Sith work... the entire conflict could have little to do with the real motives. Just draws out the Jedi and budding Jedi.

Another possibility that I was extremely hesitant to bring up is based on the creation of Serpentor from G.I. Joe (I know, I know). In the story, Dr. Mindbender gets a vision to create the new Cobra leader. Cobra raids the tombs of some of history's greatest leaders (Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, & others I can't remember) to obtain their DNA. They then amalgamate the DNA to create the world's greatest warrior. I know it's far fetched, and a complete rip off, but I am just throwing it out there.

At least two variations on this that exist. One from Mizzlewump (March 31, 2014). The other from Devin Faraci (July 20, 2014).

Since reading about it I've wondered how such an idea could work. With the recent Kyber crystal plot points in The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, it's possible Kyber crystal could come into play again.

    Hmmm...

Could this be tied to a disaster that Luke caused with his new powerful force abilities?

Kyber crystals have to be mined, right? So could Luke have inadvertently tapped into Kyber crystals and destroyed planets that have this resource? Subsequently, maybe the Alliance mines these crystals to prevent another disaster from occurring.

    Hi !
I was watching again the concept art which leaked a few weeks ago .
On the concept art of the Abu Dhabi set with the Millenium Falcon marked "WIP"
Has anyone ever noticed the ship at the bottom right. Could it be some kind of CR90 corvette ship ? Even the Tantive IV itself ?
