SPECULATION Coruscant in TFA?

I don't think so. Maybe in Episode VIII or IX.

 

Not a good idea, Coruscant is associated with the prequels and Disney borderline despises those movies.

 

Have they actually said they hated the Prequels? I doubt they hate them. The ST is after the OT so of course they're going to push the OT more.

 

The fact that 80-90% of Celebration was focused on the original trilogy, none of the built set pieces were from the prequels. They're also doing everything they can to steer away from film-making and story-telling methods which would remind people of the prequels.. and JJ is making jokes about putting Jar Jar's bones in the desert.

George Lucas is probably depressed as hell hearing about all of this, it appears they even rejected most of his ideas for TFA.. So yeah i'm guessing Disney thinks the prequels are sub-par; along with most Star Wars fans.

P.S. To the prequel fan boys I ruffled the feathers of.. I'm stating nothing but facts here. So dislike away!

 

Just in passing maybe... a brief scene or 2 to keep the continuity.... we won't spend any significant time there

 

There been zero information to suggest Coruscant is in the movie. I'm not sure why we need a thread to speculate this.

I think that it could be really interesting to see Coruscant in either TFA or later in the ST. To those of you who think that we cannot or should not ever see any planets from the PT ever again, I highly disagree with you. Going back to Coruscant post-Empire could be a really moving image to see how far the Republic had fallen under the Galactic Empire's regime and i don't believe that it would be presented in the same digital manner as it was in the PT.

 

It is funny how far the hate for the prequels reaches. Staying away from what people didn't like about the prequels is one thing but to avoid anything related to them just in case someone gets reminded of them is just ridiculous.

I don't remember seeing anyone post that they never wanted see any planet from the PT again. Let's not over react guys.

 

Its like you read my mind! I was reading through the thread wondering when someone would bring this up. The only way I would be OK with them bringing back Coruscant is with them using the McQuarrie art version. The planet had a more medieval vibe to it than it did in the prequels which could fit very well with the aesthetic of TFA.

I'm not sure there'll be time to visit the planet, tbh. I think JJ would be wise not to try and fit too much in. However, a holo-message from a character stated to be on Coruscant would be enough to acknowledge the planet and its role (as centre of politics, etc). I could see Leia taking a message (or being interrupted taking one) that ends, "Very well your highness. Best wishes from your allies on Coruscant" or something. Or maybe even just a call out, someone saying "We still have allies on Coruscant", that would work too. To not mention it at all for the remaining movies would be a little odd, though; I think it will have to be acknowledged at some point in some form....

 

I know, the PT hate is ridiculous. They can act like the PT isn't Star Wars all they want but it is.
