Do you think there'll be a time skip in TLJ? If so how long?

the movies all take place in real time but because we don't see literally every second of what is happening over a spam of time, we are seeing a time jump between each new scene.

The films often cover the span of a few weeks, and it's possible The Last Jedi will cover more. Star Wars has a brilliant way of building effortlessly through a story, while time passes between scenes and acts of the story. It's a very natural exploration, rather than montages that often rob a film than improve it. I imagine The Last Jedi could end up covering a month or two, depending on the structure of Rey's journey on Ahch-To.

Yeah TFA seemed to cover a couple of weeks realistically but it was way too fast paced making it the worst Star Wars movie to deal with time displacement

Unless I'm mistaken, I haven't payed too much attention to interviews and possible spoilers, they said this film will take place immediately after the ending of Force Awakens. With that, I'm anxious to see how they handle the crawl as well as any potential time jump. Could they possibly do scenes between Rey and Luke before the crawl? Obviously, I'm doing baseless speculation but we are in new territory if the film is to start directly following Force Awaken. Or is it possible we start with something else and they do a flashback to Luke/Rey. For example, crawl, film goes for a bit then we get a 2 years ago or whatever and we see Luke/Rey and training before going back to present.

I think the time jump will come after the first act. The Resistance will make it's escape. Rey and Luke will have their moments to talk and get acquainted. But after the first act, things will slow and time will pass. We will get visual clues with costume changes by Luke, Rey, Poe, Admiral Holdo, etc. Then act 2 will focus on Finn and Rose on Canto Bight, then go back to Rey and Luke with a lot of progress made in Rey's training.

I think somewhere around 10 to 15 minutes it time jumps. Maybe they do something different and put a crawl there. Who knows? Kind of weird to be continuous at the beginning.

I hope it's not too big a jump.

Given that we have this image of Rey

I think there will be a time jump after Act I

Agreed. Not to mention all the Force Friday stuff shows Rey in that outfit too. I'd be really surprised if there wasn't a time skip in TLJ.

There will most likely be a time jump of at least a few months. ESB had this to account for Luke's training and Han and Leia's travel to Cloud City, though the descriptions of how long that actually took are contended.

The Anakin Sloth Monster leak said there is a jump of a few months. But take that with a mountain of salt.

If there will be a time gap, it will probably happen during Rey's training.

I really hope so, I need to read a decent opening crawl, it would be weird without it.

The crawl will be present as well, even without the time jump. It will probably describe the situation after Starkiller destruction.

If you remember, RJ posted a tiny bit of the crawl on Twitter, some time ago. Nothing but the title "Episode VIII The Last Jedi", but it was something.

So, since we know there won't be a time skip between TFA and TLJ, I have always wondered if we'd get one during the film. I think Act I will take place immediately following the events of TFA, but once we get to Act II, we'll skip forward in time maybe a few weeks to a month or two, and finally, Act III will finish a week or two after Act II, so in total we'd get maybe 2-3 months time jump from Act I to Act III. That will give Luke and Rey enough time to know each other, for her training, as well as Kylo's to be completed.

Do you think we'll get a time skip?

That's not how any SW movie has been done. Highly unlikely. Gaps between movies. yes. But not within a movie.

There technically were time skips in ROTS (Padme's pregnancy and all) and Luke's training on Dagobah in ESB

I don't get where the time skip is on Dagobah. While Luke is there, Han and Leia are trying to escape the imperial fleet, end up in the cloud city. Luke is being trained for days(?) leaves to rescue his friend on the cloud city.
