RUMOR Disney expects the Han Solo movie to bomb.

When they first revealed the guy playing Han, I had no desire to see the movie. I thought he looked too much like Leonard in A Big Bang Theory.
This movie has never appealed to me. My friend has been trying to persuade me to see it on $5 Tuesdays. He reminded me of Han's back story with Chewbacca. Ordinarily I'd line up to see that story. I fear a revision of Han similar to the OT Specialized Edition with a really bad actor.

 

I call BS. The original rumor about the acting coach was in regards to Alden being unable to do improv comedy which is what Lord and Miller were really wanting. He went through many many auditions if I remember correctly and I just don't see it being possible that he could be that bad, except for the comedy. I wasn't never too excited for this, mainly because Han wasn't a character that really needed a solo movies specially when you could do Obi Wan among the many choices but I became really excited after Lord and Miller were fired, I trust Ron Howard to give us the best Han Solo movie he can. The only reason I think this could bomb is because they reshot a lot of the movie which means it might need to make way more than originally thought make up the cost of massive reshoots.

 

remember that daisy ridley also passed the auditions then was very wooden in her first days on set, but she was able to work past it. its possible that alden who is also very inexperienced couldn't get past it, especially with the weight of playing such an iconic role.

 

He was the best part in Hail Caesar. If he was having problems my first assumption would be he was receiving bad direction and if thats the case hopefully Ron Howard (who is a far more seasoned director) has a better relationship with Alden. In all honesty if they were willing to fire the directors than why wouldn't they fire Alden (if he is as bad as they say). In the end, all we can do is hope for the best and not put too much stock in rumors.

 

a small role in an oscar bait film isn't the same level as playing one of the most iconic roles of all time in a 200 million dollar blockbuster. now if this rumor is true(which is a big if) i suspect Kennedy thought it was easier to change directors(and blame the tone) then cut alden and start over trying to fill han's shoes. i honestly think they would have scrapped the film entirely then change actors that late in the game.

 

I fully buy the reason they fired Lord and Miller. 21 Jump Street and its sequel was how they described the footage that they shot and while I love those movies that is absolutely the wrong style for Han Solo. Couple that with Kasdan being very script oriented and not liking improv I can fully understand their firing. Bringing in Ron Howard was a very good sign to me. Like you said, the rumors are a big if.

 

I would be very careful with such rumors. It could simply be someone from the production team who got stepped on their toes and wants to take revenge. It could be the fired directors or someone associated with them.
How bad could a movie with such a huge budget be? Even if it is bad, it will have Han and Chewbacca meeting, Emilia Clarke in a Star Wars movie and I guess very good CGI. That alone is something. I will take an average movie, but at the same time maybe next time, they should listen to fans and not produce movies that nobody is calling for and finally give us the Obi-Wan film.

 

I'm still optimistic. Remember with R1 we were all worried because of the reshoots and it ended up being a very good movie (from my perspective). So I'm still holding onto that

I feel like it is extremely popular for sites to capitalize on negative Star Wars news at the moment.

The reports about the acting coach are pretty old, I think this rumor will fall flat.

 

I think it'll do just fine financially. Whether or not it'll actually be a good addition to the saga is another question entirely.

 

I've seen Alden Ehrenreich in at least three films so far. Not only can the guy act, he can probably act circles around most of the Sequel Trilogy cast, with the exception of Mark Hamill and John Boyega. Oh please.

 

Ehrenreich is far from Adam Driver's quality without any kind of doubt. And he doesnt look like Han Solo at all. I am not looking forward to this movie.

 

I have to disagree about the looks, this new leaked picture that I took from a different post looks very similar to the younger Han Solo, It's passable.
