I used to absolutely love the prequel trilogy. Now, it's not really my jam. Something just feels off about it.

Like, a Shakespearean tragedy set in Star Wars and depicting the fall of the Jedi order and the rise of the Empire sounds amazing on paper, and I guess that's arguably what we got... but it just doesn't work for me anymore. Tonally, it seems like the humor and the tragedy were often in the wrong places- there were obviously scenes that I think were pretty well done (like Order 66), but I think part of the problem is that we weren't really all that invested as fans. We knew what would happen to Obi-Wan and Anakin, and could presume what would happen to Padme. It's fine that, as a prequel, we knew what was going to happen to the Republic, but telling a story is a little harder when not only the story itself but the characters as well are already predestined to do what the audience expects of them.

That's why I'm holding out for Rogue One. We know that the Death Star plans get stolen, but we don't know what happens to Jyn and crew. Their story isn't told- just their part in the Death Star plans- and that seems like it could be ore interesting.

I don't find EP II really depressing at all but it is my least favorite of the PT.

EP III parts are depressing but we all knew what was going to happen.

"We weren't"? Are you speaking on behalf of all STAR WARS fans . . . or yourself?
