Episode IX Title Speculation

I still remain very convinced that the word “Skywalker”will be in the title. It makes too much sense. Every other title seems so bland.

 

please define:AICN, is there a joke a non-american like me may miss ?

It's too light and positive. God please give us something darker to worthily end that saga, and star a hype for a new one, like.... "A New Menace" if Kylo should stay evil, or perhaps "The Phantom Hope" if he should give the impression of redeeming himself

By the Force, no!!!! That is wayyyyyyy too reductive!
The whole saga cannot be reduced to a single 4-generations-family, there were so much bigger involved in this 9 chapters long story!
Y'know, it's like the title "Son of Darkness" : ok it's pretty cool by itself, but it would center the whole movie on one character. It's unfair, unless Rey reveals to be nothing.

Yeah me to. At the beginning of the year, I would have thought we would've gotten a title by now.

 

Should be noted that site said the title of Ep 3 was “Creeping Fear” and that the title of Ep 7 was “Ancient Fear”

 

ha ha I forgot about "Ancient Fear"... (and never knew about "Creeping Fear")…. they probably scored a working title of some sort...

 

They could just name the movie after one of my all time favorite Metallica songs - Star Wars: Creeping Death!!!

If this clone theory is true, it could really help explain the cave scene with the endless Reys, and it could also possibly explain Broom Boy.

 

The Next Skywalker

 

Skywalkers or just one world as a title would look terrible IMO:


You would have to strech the letters quite a bit to have the title fit with the Star Wars logo. Furthermore this title doesn't even make sense story wise.

I may have said it before in this or another thread, but I also believe (and hope, actually) that "Skywalker" is the key word in the title. Something like "Legend of the Skywalker" has a good ring to it. And if the outcome of the previous trilogies was ".... the Sith" and "... the Jedi", what else could it possibly be for the ST? Since they focus so much on the "end of the Skywalker saga" narrative for Ep IX, including that operative word in the title would make sense.

Besides, the whole "Is Rey or isn't Rey?" question could be put to rest if the name "Skywalker" ceased to be a mere family name - it has died out already as there is only an Organa and a Ren/Solo left - and became a sort of honorific title, a synonym almost for "the Chosen One". THE Skywalker we followed has always been the champion of the Jedi, the hope for the galaxy... up until TFA, the guys who fit that bill happened to have the last name Skywalker. Now this role is filled by Rey and she might just be given that title at some point in IX although not related by blood.

In essence, a Skywalker is a person powerful in the Force and the focal point of the tug of war between the light and dark sides. You had Anakin/Vader being both light and dark, Luke was light, Kylo dark, but what they all had in common was that they were the focus of the galactic conflict we followed. So if this saga is to end on some note of "balance" - as has been teased a lot throughout - then what better way to exemplify that than by naming it by the nexus of that balance: the Skywalkers.

 

As someone who has mixed feelings about the ST, this would be cool. It would tie in to not only the PT nicely, it would finally answer the question about the importance of Jakku. It would make sense out of Rey and her abilities with the force. It would also be cool if there were more "skywalkers" out there. If the time of the film is "Skywalkers" then perhaps there is something to this.

 

If it is 'Star Wars: Skywalkers" then I think it's a clever move.

Apt for the final chapter. Ambiguous while offering the suggestion of an ending that wraps up the Skywalker saga with potential for a revelation or two. I also think it could re-engage many of those who were disappointed by the TLJ (Of course whether it will deliver is a whole other question).

Really excited to see what comes out of celebration now.

 

Too bad there is literally nobody named Skywalker alive in Episode IX.

 

Would like The Skywalker Legacy Or Legacy Of the Skywalkers rather than just Skywalkers ..

For whatever reason, I can't set on a title I like for Episode 9.

Which means I probably won't like it lol.

Have to say 'The Force Awakens' and 'The Last Jedi' were excellent titles.

 

Honestly, given that this is Disney and they’re likely to milk the hell out of this cash cow, I’m beginning to think that Kylo wins this one and the whole saga ends on a massive downer with a small glimmer of hope, like TESB, so that they can carry on the movies and make episodes X-XII. Given that there’s been talk of the Knights of Ren possibly returning from beyond the Rim in the Unknown Regions to warm of some impending doom / Big Bad, and that Daisy Ridley said a while ago (but I can’t seem to find the article anywhere) that she didn’t want to do any more SW after IX, I wonder whether Rey will maybe die, which means the title of IX will possibly be something darker like Fall of the Resistance, or something relating to the new enemy like War On All Fronts.
