In your timeline and based on Lucas' 3 year method, the sequel trilogy would've been 86, 89, 92. Luke, Han, & Leia's kids would've been pretty damn young.

It would've worked much, much better if you waited until the time they did the prequels to do the sequels, so you'd have close to a 20 year period, and you could say they settled down immediately and had the next generation of heroes come into their 20s while Luke, Han, and Leia were in their late 30s-early 40s.

But just for fun, I guess we'll pretend that the majority of their kids haven't been born yet and will be born in the trilogy (and show up as adults in 10, 11, 12 to end the Skywalker Saga in 2015 - because the way I see it, the prequels should still happen in 99, 02, 05.)

So here's my Episode 7 cast in 1986, and instead of making these characters offspring, I will use some of the other rumors we've gotten over the past 3 years to flesh it out:

Finn Calrissian - The estranged son of Lando Calrissian that has joined the ranks of the Imperial remnant as a Stormtrooper. Just like FN-2187 he will defect from the baddies, reconnect with his father, and join the Rebellion. Luke sees great potential in him as a Jedi Knight and takes him on as a Padawan.
DENZEL WASHINGTON (Equipped with Lando-esque mustache)


Rey Kenobi - Obi-Wan comes to Luke and tells him that during his exile on Tatooine, he fell in love with a member of Beru Whitesun's family and together they had a child. Obi-Wan's lady was killed by the Tusken Raiders when Kenobi was briefly off-world to help settle a conflict in the early days of the rebellion. He left his newborn child with his lover, and the child was sold into slavery. Owen Lars and Beru immediately became estranged from Obi-Wan, hence Uncle Owen's dismissal of Old Ben as a crazy old hermit to Luke. Obi-Wan had tremendous guilt over the loss of his lover and the kidnapping of his child, he asks Luke to pool together resources and use The Force to find her.
SEAN YOUNG (George saw her in Blade Runner opposite Harrison and fell in love with her in our timeline)



Poe Dameron - In this timeline, Poe Dameron is still an X-Wing Pilot and member of the Rebellion. Poe is a pupil of Wedge Antilles and Luke Skywalker. Both of them teach him to become an ace pilot. He is a bit force sensitive (not enough to be a Jedi Knight, but more than Han), which makes him attractive to Leia, and also an asset. Han is jealous of Poe, because he sees a lot of himself in Poe, and he also sees that Leia is a bit flirtatious with him, but it isn't really that serious. Leia & Han are in love, but Leia also has feelings for Poe, and here we get a bit of the love triangle rivalry we should've got between Kenobi & Anakin in the prequels with Padme. Han, Leia, and Poe are forced to work together, which adds some confrontational romance to the story.

Kylo Ren - In this timeline, Kylo Ren is a Dark Side Relic Hunter and the son of a character that has yet to be introduced: Count Dooku AKA Darth Tyrannus. He is very much obsessed with Darth Vader, because Vader was strong enough to kill his father, and he wants to continue the legacy of The Sith. So in this series of films, he is a Sith and not a member of the Knights of Ren, but we'll keep the name because it's a bad ass name.
MICKEY ROURKE (Guy was a BAD ASS in the 80s. He could've pulled it off, I think)


Captain Phasma - She's the same character she is in TFA - Boba Fett 2.0
BRIGITTE NIELSON (Saw this mentioned earlier in the thread. She's perfect. She was so bad ass in the 80s. I don't care how bad she fell off Foofi Foofi in Surreal Life. Watch Rocky IV)


General Hux - Same character as in TFA - Tarkin 2.0
PATRICK SWAYZE (Going against type and instead of playing a hero, he plays a villain! Cmon, Dalton "Pain Don't Hurt" from Road House could be a bad ass in Star Wars. it was difficult for me to find someone young in the 80s with the elegance of a Peter Cushing, so I went in a different direction. But it'd be awesome to see Swayze hamming it up as MERCILESS. Cut the mullet a bit. Gel and slick back the hair. Boom!)


Supreme Leader Snoke - Instead of being a mo-cap character, he is a regular human here and takes over operations as The Emperor because he was one of Palpatine's advisors (Those Dark Side loving weird hat guys from the OT)

MAX VON SYDOW (Since George wanted to adapt Flash Gordon and didn't get the chance, he gets to have Ming The Merciless himself to play his successor to Palpatine in this trilogy!


Lor San Tekka - The Battle of Jakku takes place one year after The Battle of Endor. Lor San Tekka was an aging Imperial Grand Moff that was the man in charge on one of the Star Destroyers that is ultimately lost in the battle. He grows disgruntled with the Empire for leaving him stranded,and becomes the Vicar of a community there, and helps Luke to seek out the long, lost daughter of Kenobi. There is a huge slave trade on Jakku now because the top underworld bosses have dispatched scavenger crews there to pillage all the wreckages.
DONALD PLEASANCE (One of my favorite actors of all-time. British. And criminally underrated. He fits the Star Wars mold. Can play a hero or a villain or morally conflicted characters seamlessly.)


Boba Fett - He shall escape from the Sarlacc on Tatooine, and attempt to exact his revenge on Han Solo. He finds that Vader is dead and the Empire is in disarray. He links back up with the Imperial Remnant and becomes the #1 bounty hunter for General Hux, while Phasma is the top hunter for Ren. Fett & Phasma will have a rivalry in this film.

SYLVESTER STALLONE (Stallone & Nielson were a hot item in the 80s, and played enemies in Rocky IV, so Star Wars is capitalizing on their fame in supporting roles here!)


For the next 2 films in the trilogy, here's a definitive choice for a Luke Padawan:

RIVER PHOENIX (16 in 1986, so he was too young. And though he died young, it wasn't until 1993, so he would've made it through the trilogy! Would've made a great Ben Skywalker if he lived through the 90s for 10, 11, 12 in our timeline)


So my 1986 Episode 7 is full of Action Heroes and actors with gravitas. I think a lot of these actors would've pushed Harrison & Mark to take their skills to the next level. And who knows? Maybe if the sequel trilogy was made then and Hamill got to continue to transform Luke into THE quintessential Jedi Master, he wouldn't have been typecast nearly as badly.

Christopher Lambert was my guy as Connor MacLeod. I also loved him as Lord Raiden. I realize he wasn't the greatest actor ever. It's the accent that really held him back. But I always thought he was very talented. I love the Highlander series (even though the sequels are seriously lacking), the original Highlander is a cult classic, and I love it almost as much as I love Star Wars. It's such a bad ass movie. Clancy Brown, who plays The Kurrgan, would made an AWESOME addition to Star Wars even now. He's on the Ninja Turtles cartoon as a voice, and still kicks ass in live action too.

1980-1998 Cruise sucks, he only got likeable from Eyes Wide Shut onwards in my opinion. Kubrick and Spielberg whipped him into shape.

 

Actually what would happen is they'd cast Eric Stoltz as Hux then replace him with Michael J Fox two weeks into filming

As for the troll rating on the Denzel post, that was @Cmdr. Ed Straker, apparently upset that I tagged his "Stop trolling me you guys" post with a troll rating.

 

I wish they would MAKE a role for Clancy Brown in Star Wars. In his prime, he would have a made a formidable Inquisitor with that awesome voice. They really missed an opportunity by not making him Lex Luther in the new Batman V Superman coming in 2016.
