Great post, I have to agree, this guy was underused.
He was great as Kurgan, charismatic and menacing at the same time.
    clancy-brown-as-the-kurgan-in-highlander.jpg
I can even think about him playing the T800 in Terminator from 1984 as Arnold Schwarzenegger's replacement.

    The church scene was funny.
Clancy Brown is underated and underused for sure.
Now he is a bit too old for some roles, a missed opportunity.
I liked his role in "Shoot to Kill" this guy is great when playing a psychopath.

I completely agree. He's so underrated. He would make a tremendous addition to Star Wars in live action or in voice. As an Inquisitor on Rebels? Ideal! I could also see him as a war hardened veteran of the Resistance, trying to whip a new crop of X-Wing pilots into shape. I've never seen Clancy in a role I didn't enjoy. His role as Kurrgan is an all-time classic and his work on TMNT as a voice actor is simply stellar.

Here's a fun fact to tie Star Wars to Highlander. They both share the same sword master - Bob Anderson - who suited up in SW as Vader for some of the duels. He did a GREAT job with Star Wars and a tremendous job with Highlander. I always wonder if Lucas watched Highlander in the 80s and that gave him the idea to cast Hugh Quarshie as Captain Panaka in Episode 1. Quarsh is one of the Immortals that Connor MacLeod encounters throughout the film and is seemingly the only one aside from Sean Connery's character that seems to have befriended him.

Highlander could've been a franchise to reckon with if they would've taken care of the sequels as much as they did the original film. I think the first Highlander is one of the best fantasy films ever made, and the Queen soundtrack just adds to it. It's all-around awesome. Higlander II screwed up BIG TIME by retconning everything and making them aliens and bringing back Connery. Surely, they could've kept the mythology of the first film as a guideline, and found a better way to bring back Connery's character in a "Force Ghost" kind of way, instead of the nonsense that became Highlander The Quickening. The ONLY sequel I can even remotely take seriously is the one with Mario Van Peebles as the villain. It was a major stepdown from the first film, but a huge improvement over The Quickening. And it all fell off after that. I could never get into the series, and as much as I wanted to like Highlander End Game, I just thought passing the torch to that other MacLeod was a bad move. He sucked, IMO.

I hear that they've been trying to reboot the franchise for a few years now, but it's been in development hell. I really wish I could write a screenplay for it and submit it to the company, because I'm 1000% sure I could do better than whatever hack writers they have employed for this one. All of the rumored people involved were just trash. You figure that with how much the fantasy genre has taken over n the past few decades, they would try to build Highlander up as an epic. My ideas for it would be to include Clancy & Chris Lambert in cameos as different characters, with a whole new Connor MacLeod, and I'd even find a way to get a few of the Queen songs from the original back in the new film to harken back to the original. After that, it'd be a whole new take, with epic storytelling, a tremendous ensemble cast, a visionary director, great fight choreography, and bringing in the mythology and mystery of the original that made it a success.

I've always felt like I could pen some pretty damn good stories for Star Wars, Highlander, and Mortal Kombat, 3 properties I am very fond of, and characters I have obsessed over for years. The problem is, I just don't know who to submit them to.

The new Creed film is a testament to that. The idea that Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan pitched to Stallone is the EXACT same story that myself and my Dad (who wrote DOZENS and DOZENS of unproduced screenplays throughout his life) obsessed over for YEARS. And I haven't seen the film yet, but based on the information I know, I'd say 75% of it is very close to the brainstorming sessions we had for years, and so I am absolutely THRILLED to see Ryan Coogler bringing a dream film of mine to the big screen.

And after Rob Zombie's Halloween, I've been trying to think of ways to make Michael Myers a viable threat again. The problem is, I am not the best when it comes to the horror genre, as I'm not a HUGE fan of horror movies, but always loved John Carpenter's films, thus my obsession with Myers & Loomis. Boy did Zombie screw it up. He screwed it up worse than Halloween 4, 5,6, & Resurrection ever could've dreamed and that's why they're struggling to make another film now. Zombie's Halloween II is the worst film I've ever seen.

Taimak would've been AWESOME. Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon is simply a satirical masterpiece. And shoutout to Julius Curry aka THE SHOGUN OF HARLEM! I always thought he was great. Same thing with Eddie Arkadian, that guy should've had a helluva career as a villain.

My Dad showed me this movie when I was really young. He loved it and so did I. I need to go back and watch it for old times sake, and especially since Pops has since passed on. Can't remember the actor that played the bodyguard but I always thought he was the blast! Another staple of ours was Walter Hill's 1975 directorial debut starring Charles Bronson, Jill Ireland, James Coburn, and Strother Martin: HARD TIMES! One of Bronson's best.
