SPECULATION Episode VIII Wishlist

i have many wishes.. but 2 biggies:-

1. the first 35/40 minutes of TFA is my favorite section from all 7 films so far.. gimme more of that please. I could honestly watch 2hrs of Rey scavenging on Jakku to the music that John Williams gave us. #mesmerizing

2. world peace.

(if pushed for one choice... i'll go with opt 1 lol)

 

I'd say you're on the "Fringe" of something there...

 

I hope we spend a good deal of time on Ach-To to flesh out both Rey and Luke's current characters, as we didn't have enough time with this for any of the characters in EP7 (well done, we just didn't really get a chance to sit down and get to know them well). But there's no way the hero of the story will be on a single planet for an entire film. I bet Luke will leave with her.

 

i love this idea generally and this is how i would solve the problem: this fight happens in the final act and there's a break-through at the end. after they call a ceasefire, Leia arrives and Ren Ben crumbles. this is how viii ends. when we come back in ix, they've been on Ahch-To a while; the alliance isn't perfect (Ben and Rey are still at odds perhaps), but Ben seems committed to turning and some circumstance prompts them to go into action before any of them is satisfied that it's going to work (sp as to maintain the suspense/tension).

this satisfies the gnashing-teeth fandom's need for a vicious awful Kylo Ren for the majority of viii, but also gives plenty of development time for him to transition back to the Light, etc., with a reasonable time leap during which we can reasonably believe that the truce they've made in viii is steady enough for some kind of next step in ix.

 

These are the things I would like to see:
1-No more killing OT characters.
2-Phasma doing something awesome.
3-Seeing Snoke's true size.
4-Learning more lore about both the Dark Side and the Light.
5-Seeing some familiar aliens.
6-Seeing some new droids like PZ-4CO and B-U4D get more screen time.
7-Seeing Luke as an awesome Jedi Master.

 

1. seeing Luke in a battle with the KoR (we will get this)
2. Luke leaving Ach-to (maybe we will get this)
3. Luke training more than only Rey (we may not get this)

 

I want to see Snoke in the flesh... only to discover that in his hologram, he was seriously overcompensating. He is actually tiny! (... and suffering from a major case of Napoleon Complex.)

 

i do so hate that fishy-eyed toilet monster.
while i suspect he really is seven feet tall, nothing would satisfy me more than to find out he's really a three-inch slug that Luke flushes down the drain.

 

Honestly, I just want to know what the hell happened...

Who is Snoke and where did he come from? How was he able to take over the remnants of the Empire?

What happened with Han and Leia to make them split?

How and why did Ben Solo become Kylo Ren?

What happened with Luke and his Jedi?

And of course, Rey - who is she really and where did she come from?

(also - the galaxy currently and who the players/governments/powers are)

Whatever else new they want to do moving forward, great...I'm on board. I don't care. It will be good.

But I have to have some of these gaps filled in...it's very jarring not to know whole chunks of the history.

Things i want:

1. Resolve rey's parentage mystery. I'm a rey-skywalker camp guy myself, but whatever tells a great story is fine. Just get it out of the way.

2. World building. Give me some palace intrigue. Show me how the gffa works these days.

3. Show me a kylo ren that is gone for good. I have literally no interest in a redemption arc for him. I love the way driver plays him as a unhinged villian. I know that's not the popular opinion around here, but hey, if they bring him back to good, i guess they'll do that pretty well.

3. Flesh out the other cast members.

4. Give hux/phasma a necessary role or dispense with them.

5. Make sure the new characters matter without stealing ep7's lead character's screen times

6. More snoke. What does he really want?

 

My turn

1: Rey's family revealed.

2: 2 lightsaber duels

3: Snoke's origins revealed

4: Finn's history revealed.

5: Threepio, Artoo & BB-8 to all go on a journey together before reuniting with the rebels

6: Kylo/Ben & Leia confrontation.

7: Benico vs Poe bridge fight scene.

8: Luke & Rey training scene.

9: Yoda & Obi Wan force ghost visit

10: Another superweapon.

 

That sounds like a good idea for a kids show but not for the main movies.

No more super weapons!

 

It's always a treat to wait in anticipation of how John Williams will weave new variations of his character themes.

I also find myself curious whether that "true believer" Hux is heading for some interesting and unexpected character development.

I'm going to try and keep my expectations simple this time - here's to an entertaining ride, some interesting character arcs, and a surprise or two.

 

I knew you said but I'm still hopeful.

 

hahaha ~ i want to see another superweapon just to hear the gnashing of teeth and rending of garments from the anti-Death Star camp

if there's a twist coming, i really want it to come from Hux. i want him to surprise us by taking over, trying to kill Snoke or Ren, or seriously crushing the whole of the Resistance. i still want him to be the big bad.

 

Thanks for backing me up on this one, I know the starkiller base was meant to be a one hit wonder but that wasn't the case with the death star, I'm not sure if Snoke wants to waste anymore credits but I hope he does.

 

i thought Starkiller was a hilarious hyperbolic statement on the idiotic use of "might" from the bad guys. again.
people complain and criticize, but that's all we do as superpowers: build bigger and bigger bombs.
