Simply for the anticipation alone, TFA. I found TLJ to be off kilter and obscure. As for TROS, rushed and detached.

I appear to buck the trend a little with this one as I rank TFA as my least favorite of the ST movies. IMHO, after a fantastic 1st arc (arguably the strongest 1st arc in Star Wars), the film loses steam for me and I lose interest apart for scenes between Kylo & Rey.

That, and what's apparently even weirder, I actually really like TRoS, which appear to make me one of the few in the fandom. Except for the dagger MacGuffin, which feels contrived and even lame to me in places, TRoS really does it for me overall.

But where it's at in the ST, is TLJ! Fantastic piece of cinema and an emotional power house of a film, IMHO.

THE FORCE AWAKENS is by far, my favorite simply because it had so much promise, also Star Wars A New Hope is my favorite original trilogy film, and TFA is constantly compared to ANH, so for me, it makes sense that TFA is my favorite Sequel trilogy film.

TROS is my least favorite, because for me, its so obvious that Snoke was a clone of Palpatine, or Snoke was the Palpatine of the sequel trilogy. Yes, GL we know, these films rhym...

Although, I love Ian McDiarmid, he was great in ROTJ and TROS respectively, but his return is utterly ridiculous... as Poe Dameron said, SOMEHOW PALPATINE RETURNED... which is utterly ridiculous, for me.

When did Palpatine have the time to manufacture a billion Star Destroyers?

Was that dark side black magic? Seeing a billion Star Destroyers did not suspend my disbelief, it wasn't cool, I just did not believe at all.

Space horses galloping on a Star Destroyer? utterly ridiculous...

I didn't believe a monkey could reconstruct Kylo Ren's helmet... utterly ridiculous and baffling... please remove that ridiculous helmet

    Rey's training felt rushed...

Pasaansa speeder chase scene WHOO-HOO CHEEZY... they fly now? Yes Finn, they fly now... oy vey, who decided to make Finn the comic relief of the sequel trilogy? Jar Jar Abrams did.

HYPERSPACE SKIPPING, how did the Tie-Fighters chasing the Falcon know where heck they were skipping to? Can someone please hire a sci-fi author to consult on Jar Jar Abrams' Sci-fi fantasy films, please.

...with that said, there are some parts that I enjoyed... I own TROS, if I completely disliked it I would not have added it to my video library.

There are some redeeming parts, for me the Rey and Kylo Ren final duel on the sea port platform. ( aside from Finn screaming, REY for the umpteeth time).

Rey's dark side transformation / daylight-dream. I own the black series figure.

Rey using the Jedi books she stole from Luke.

Ghost Luke being Luke, and advising Rey, which feels like a retcon.

    This.
But, I have to say the scene with Han and Kylo in TROS was genuinely touching...the father- son chemistry between Driver and Ford never ceases to move me. How I wish they'd shared more scenes together.

I respect your honesty. At least your not trying to be in the in crowd by saying that every star wars production is good just because it's a star wars production which we know is definitely not the case. If it's a bad film or series then it's a bad film or series and the fact that it's star wars doesn't change that. This is not a mind control forum. When one is simply stating their opinion in a respectful manner it doesn't mean it's hate talk. There's nothing wrong with being honest as long as we respect each other and each other's opinions.

As far as TROS, you've pretty much taken the words out of my mouth. I've already stated my likes and dislikes of the ST and I'm pretty much over it. But I had to respond to your post. For a second I was actually surprised it was you lol.

Hi Angelman, you didn't, everyone is entitled to like/dislike what they want, it's when they start personally attacking the person posting that it gets nasty.

Of course. Yet this is an appreciation thread so let's keep it that way. There are already hundreds of threads dedicated to criticizing stuff so let's not here

Oh, this is not on @Rogue1138! It was me who started ranting about what I don't like about TFA and TRoS, so no wonder people followed my example :)

But as you say, carry on, people.

All over the place. You have participated in several of them yourself, if I'm not mistaken.

In any case, rounds and rounds with the same ol' mud slinging gets old very fast, and it's a lot more interesting to discuss good experiences and enthusiasm over what we like, no?

I try to always remember that, a) I'm not the center of the universe and neither are my oppinions, and b) not hurting people, especially those bright-eyed young'uns who come here to bask in their joy, by shoveling the same poodoo that's been circulating for years. It is better to move on and love.

The internet would have burned if ReyLo cut off Snoke's hands and nothing happened except hearing Plagueis a cackle for 3 minutes.

Then, we'd have 2 avatars of the force instead of some convoluted dyad.... but I digress.

So I guess that leaves TFA as my favorite ST film.

I agree with this, personally if I disliked Star Wars like most, I'd become a fan of another franchise, and forget about Star Wars. I have a dear friend who did exactly that and became a fan of the LOTR. He gave me all his Star Wars merch that he could not sell on ebay. Years later he became a fan of Star Wars again,
with ROTS. Wasting your time with mean talk is just an utter waste of time... but if you choose to waste your time that way that's your preogative.

I would like to publicly apologize, I did not mean to derail this thread. It's an appreciation thread; therefore, I will post things that I enjoyed about TROS, rather than post things I disliked. healthy discourse is the way, at least here.

I hope that fellow members will follow my lead.

    Cheers,
    Rogue1138

Films are subjective, and we should respect everyone's opinions and discuss the film in a civil manner. Trying to change someone's mind, over and over again, just gets annoying, to say the least. It would be wise to find something more constructive to do with your precious time.

100% agree. Also, it is good to remember in which channels we conduch what kind of cunduct, so that everyone can feel safe, seen, and appreciated in our space.

That said... we are still derailing the thread here, as pleasant as this has been :p

So, let's get back to discussing which ST movies we like the most
