Ok, so I have not read either. I am keeping myself far away from spoilers this (potentially) big (and I have marked this thread as "Speculation" to keep it totally spoiler free). However, I would like to know from those that have what the consensus reaction is, in vague terms. Are we going to be pleased? Is it going to be a decent or good or great film? Or do the spoilers represent generally disappointing beats and bode for a bad turn in the the Star Wars legacy, such as it is?

Again, keep it vague. What is your reaction?

The language of the shooting schedule is too vague to make any kind of judgement. Its literally a simple sentence for each scene if that, with little context and no dialogue.

Surely though it must give an indication as to scenes and a general direction of the film?

I think the shot list gives the potential of a good movie. Some minor quibbles aside. It is too vague to be anywhere close to conclusive. But I think the basic structure of the plot works fine. I'm not 100% convinced this list is 100% accurate. But if it were it doesn't fill me with dread for the quality of the film.

I think it is going to be a great film, and we will leave the theater in tears, but happy.
It's going to keep these threads buzzing until VIII comes out. As an OT fan, I think I'll be thrilled with the outcome and eager for the next film.

However.... there's a lot that's missing from the spoilers & trailers. Tons of stuff that make no sense. Could it all go south once all of the missing pieces are filled in? Well, sure. But the pieces that are there look fantastic, so I have good reason to believe the missing parts will be, as well.

Intentionally incomplete, almost certainly. I imagine that, if the MF info is real, it's built to be non-specific, and I'm pretty sure a lot of the pieces are split up, hidden, and kept from most of the crew.

But broadly speaking, it seems great to me. A thrilling introduction of compelling new heroes, tied to the OT heroes in non-clunky ways. But we'll have to wait and see.

Some will surely be disappointed that this movie isn't about the Big Three of the OT. That, to me, is nonsense, wishful thinking, or simply personal preference that goes against the grain of storytelling and, to a great extent, reality. I think in many ways it is about the Big Three and they will be consistent and crucial parts of the ST.

I'm very optimistic that this is a well-constructed start to the new trilogy. But I thought that before the MF leak(?).

I like how the characters meet and depart from each other. How a group assembles, splits up for different tasks and reunites. This could make a great movie. But there is a catch, it is missing some parts, there are maybe 4 or more scenes missing, and that was on purpose.

Lets not jump to any conclusions. Maybe JJ is just being forward looking with his scene ordering and leaving space for the inevitable Lucas Special editions down the road so there is room for the CG musical numbers and comical establishing shots to be added. :)

Just speculation wise, what do we think is missing. I've not read the list hence why am asking and also whether the missing details will have a strong impact on the film?

There is virtually nothing about what happens to Poe after he crash-lands with Finn until he shows up in the air-raid over Takodana.
Not a peep of info about that. Rey's parentage is very hidden, which is why everyone is still debating it. The ending is still very murky. Only a handful of scenes after
a major character death and a major character reveal?
Nope, I think we'll all be surprised. :)

How about a Unkar Plutt vs Chewie Rap battle, while Tie Fighters fly in formation, surrounding the castle, that would be so dense!
The Force back is just by scene numbers missing parts. But I have no idea what is happening there, SWNN reported soemthing with Bespin.
Captain Phasma for example is barely mentioned and Poe just disappears after 69.
And there is another thing, the numbers don't necessarily match the scenes that were shot, we know some numbers from the BTS Reel.

I enjoyed it! I like where the story seems to go. Again, similar beats to OT but I'm fine with that. I just want a good movie, with a good story and acting.

Well...here is what I see after reading it:

It will be fast paced... fastest than anything we have seen from Star Wars so far. Like...PACKED.
Even though it is fast paced, I think they will manage to intelligently introduce us to the characters WITHOUT going through long dialogues and exposition...

I don't expect an Empire Strikes Back type of movie, more A New Hope on steroids.

I think it will be praised as an exciting, action-packed, sci-fi movie with strong characters.
Some will criticize its resemblance to A New Hope, some will criticize the diminution of the original characters in the story (Leia, Luke, C3P0 and R2D2).

But one thing comes in my mind after reading this: I hope they will do their job well in establishing Kylo Ren's character... not make it a Darth Vader placeholder character. This is, IMHO, the main challenge in a movie that packed with action sequences and...

if Han Solo has to die by his son's saber, that scene has to have significance.

Mod edit - Put in spoiler tags just to be on the safe side.

What are the things you don't like? You can use spoilers if you don't want to tip anyone off. :)
    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 2, 2015, Original Post Date: Dec 2, 2015 ---
    Amen to that!

And the music- the score! JW isn't going to grace us with his presence forever, I can't wait to hear what he has in store for us. When that guy moves on to the next plane of existence, then fans, ppl in HS/college bands, music festivals and Pops concerts everywhere will weep. :(

And then, they'll strike up Binary Sunsets. And smile.:)

I'll keep this as vague and straight to the point as possible: I think the consistency of these spoilers are far too consistent to be completely accurate. We've been hearing these same screenplays for months and months. Yet, Disney is still saying we are wrong, that we don't know how the events of this film will play out. If these stories are true, then the whole secrecy surrounding this multi-billion dollar investment has been breached.

Personally, I think maybe we should put our faith in these rumors so that we can all be in for a good treat when we see so many unexpected things in the movie. I do think a lot of what these screenplays present is relevant, but the overall sum of everything is just too blurred and choppy to be 100% accurate.

If mostly everything is accurate, however, I think we should take a few shots of skeptisism before walking into the film. I'm sure either way it will play out greatly, but certain elements, if true, I can surely see causing some controversy. But I'm still sticking by my gut and saying that we're all in for a beautiful film and a real surprise.

    Neutral on the shot list

Clearly many things missing and any of the scenes could be good or bad, depending on the dialogue, acting, execution, etc.

It does seem to follow the soundtrack reveal and there are a few spoilers here that I haven't seen elsewhere.

We are so close now that I am seriously considering turning everything off until after I see the movie. I actually suspect that some of this is deliberate misinformation, dropped by JJ and co specifically to keep the hard core fans busy while the actual movie will contain surprises that are sure to wow everyone who thought they had it all figured out.

Yeah, it's funny. I really don't mind knowing the major plot points from the outline. I see films adapted form books all the time and it never bothers me. In fact, like with LOTR, I'm MORE excited to see how the film presents all of these characters and locations I've imagined from the pages of the book.
Same with TFA. In my brain I have constructed the film based on these leaks and outlines. But when it comes to actually seeing it, I don't want to know PRECISE details. It's the nuance and subtle touches that will surprise me, and because I already know the basic story outline, I'll be better able to notice and appreciate them.
I'm too old and too busy to see this movie 25 times in a week, so I need to maximize my time available!
Really I'm just trying to justify my spoiler hound tendencies. Bottom line, they don't ruin the film and I'm still jazzed to find out everything I don't already know. I'm checking out of spoilers going forward.
