I am the same way. I do think there should be some mystique to the light saber, it certainly felt that way throughout the PT and OT. I am not saying, as is often the pretty shabby attempt to mischaracterize my stance, that no one can touch or use the light saber in any way, lest they explode. I do however see it similar to real world swords, especially the katana. It is the signature sword of the samurai, and while surely a commoner could pick it up, slice things perhaps even defend themselves with it versus another untrained individual. But when an expert swordsman runs into a commoner that has just picked up a sword out of that just being what was laying around and available they would get dispatched quick. Even say a soldier normally trained in using the pike, or the bow. If they got caught in close quarters with an elite swordsman and they attempted to pick up a sword and fight toe to toe they would get their butts handed to them pretty quick. Now there is a debate whether Finn merely manages to perhaps block a blow or 2 before getting disabled himself versus him perhaps making a go of it, observing Boyega's social media, his prominence with a light saber in battle stance on the poster, and his additional specific light saber training I would say it is more the later. So to me this points to him being specifically trained in using the light saber either as force users as would either Jedi or Sith, or perhaps a Ren.

I fully agree with you there, so many smart points there! I can see some troopers having high enough midichlorians to use the force, but not enough to be registered by The EMPIRE. But, then again, TPM established that midichlorians inhabit every living being, whether it's 1 midichlorian or 1 million midis.

Liek pointed out already it has been done and it wasn't really bad, a force user still has an advantage.
But in the same context I don't like the idea of a lighsaber that is more then just a symol of older days.
It needs balance, they are not sacred items given by the force.

There's a mystical meaning of the word sword in the Old Testament, it means YHWH ( sorry for the religious reference ) and most of the mythical heroes use it and it's no coincidence, it means something in a symbolic way, it's a path in your inner self.

And having troopers using laseswords will put this symbolic down.

What if The First Order takes the force sensitive kids to serve them? (So some of them can even use lightsaber [FINN])

Waste of talents to put them as troopers.

Better put them in the Knights of Ren for example !

Why? Because they support each other, care for each other, team up for threats that one or two of them cannot solve alone.

You are just being ridiculous and OT purist... nothing in your rambling makes any sense on any level, you are just whining because it was different... and the whole time of the original trilogy, there was good reason for jedi to not team up.

    because there werent any.

    Possible is everything.
I mean the Empire had complete access to the Jedi Order's archives.
Just check with all families where Forcies had come from and since it's genetic just have them all breed with each other.
It stands to reason that a few results had to have been produced

The assertions in this thread would suggest that Captain Phasma is force sensitive

Clearly she isn't or wields a lightsaber.
