Game of Thrones Series Creators to Write and Produce New Series of Star Wars Films

In my opinion, more Star Wars is always better than less Star Wars. If it comes down to movies on a yearly basis and waiting fifteen years for a new movie, I will, without fail, take the former.

 

Other than the J.J. movie. I've loved the new Star Wars we've gotten. So more films J.J. isn't involved with is a plus to me. I'm not a fan of Game of Thrones but what worries me about Benioff and Weiss. They were the duo that had the idea of doing a series set in an alternative history. Where the Confederacy had won the war. They were stupid enough to think people in 2017 would be excited by that prospect. Then they spent a few months flailing around trying to defend the idea.

Within an hour since the announcement, I grew tired of lightsabers photoshopped into GoT images.

Think that this news seem that tomorrow we will have 20 more movies, but its not... we won't see anything in the next 4 years maybe (they have to finish Game of Thrones and develop everything from zero and every movie takes 2/3 years to be done... we will have some regularity, but won't be as Marvel 3 movies a year (hope so)

 

Yes. They. Do. I've actually seen this kind of edits in the past and always found them kind of dumb... but that's just me.

 

I know, I'm a freaking idiot... but I was imagining that maybe GRR Martin can colaborate with them to line up a story that they can develop...

 

I do say I share a concern with you slightly. I just don’t want them rushed or having 2 films in one year will just be to much. I loved the marvel films but once we started to get 3 a year I just stopped caring. Now I could be hopefully proven wrong as I’m more of a SW fan anyway...I just don’t want them rushed

 

That being said if they canonise KOTOR I will lose my s@#& because I love that game and Love Bastia and Revan (I confess I am replaying the game now on iPad during train journeys)

 

As much as it would be cool, I wonder if they want to make movies of something 4000 years (if I'm right) before the main stories.
Is KotOR still canon? Because maybe they make a version closer to the Prequel Trilogy...

 

And both are wearing the Targaryen colors.

KotOR is not canon, so now they can make a canon version of a similar period.

I would love that, but I guess they will go for a distant setting in order to be able to craft their own world and develop new areas of the lore. And that's exciting. 50 years is not much in the grand scheme of things. There were "over a thousand generations" of Jedi. That said, yeah, there's no spin-off I would love to see more than one set in the PT era.

 

More Star Wars, as long as it is good writing, is always welcome, I think.

I must say, though, given this particular announcement: I only hope Star Wars films by these and other future writers will continue to be potentially enjoyable by all age levels -- i.e. contemporary family-grade entertainment.

In other words, I personally hope they have no intention to introduce any degree of the gratuitous and expressly adult content GOT is known for.

Star Wars is not GOT and is more than strong enough on its own as to never have to settle for such superfluous saturnalia.

 

There is room for adult themed Star Wars with all new media outlets just like there is room for a more adult comic show/movie.

 

For you, and others, and I accept that.

But not for me.

In my opinion, Star Wars going full GOT would be going several steps too far from the original spirit and appeal of this franchise.

Removing the potentially universal cultural appeal and approachability of Star Wars films, and then begin to exclude audiences through unnecessary adult content, and something of that special legendary kind of trans-generational entertainment and enrichment of Star Wars will be forever lost.

I would personally prefer it if LFL/Disney would leave any such lesser lascivious stuff to other films and franchises which apparently need such things to allure audiences to their relatively inferior storylines.
