General Lego Star Wars Discussion Thread

they're not marked at all.

i have been tempted by Lepin because i just like to build things and then i don't care that much about them afterwards, so i can pass them on or donate them or something. but the moral question is absolutely what stops me from buying them.

that and their instruction books and package arrangements are apparently a real horror. : o p

 

There was actually a Lepin store at the Florida Mall a couple months ago, but fortunetly for Lego, it got shut down thanks to this video:

Heck, at my own mall, there is a kiosk that sells plastic Lego-like bricks that are based on licensed characters. There's a bunch of weird "Mickey Mouse" sets with him dressed as other licensed characters and a "Darth Vader" and "Stormtrooper". (I use quotation marks, because they use these characters without permission, so they have to give them different names, like Space Soldier or something like that for Stormtrooper.)

 

that's bizarre! you wouldn't think they could have got away with that!

there is a newer company called Xiangbao that makes LEGO-compatible stuff that's kind of interesting.
to my knowledge they don't do knock-offs, they have original sets. but i have never ordered anything from them.
i might give them a try, though.

 

Those look nice enough, but as you can tell, I'm a Lego purist. I really don't like off-brand bricks or knock-offs! I appreciate that this new company actually makes its own designs, rather than ripping them off of Lego or fan models.

 

yeah, they have some nice stuff (their cars and things are especially nice--for a different kind of fan), but i total get brand loyalty too.

i gotta buy a new phone today (alas, i broke mine this morning ~ arghhh!).
so i think the Millennium Falcon maybe be off my to-buy list for good now.

I'm sure it'll be around for a while, so maybe you'll be able to get it eventually.

I'm seriously contemplating buying that Kessel Run MF, but I already have the Millenium Falcon from TFA. If I do that, then I'd have a shelf with two Millenium Falcons, which would be cool but would also be kinda extraneous, but I'm still undecided. I'll wait for a good deal!

 

i'm curious to see what else they'll make from Solo.
it definitely seems like a movie with way more opportunity for toys?

 

I wish, but I don't think they'll make that as a Lego set, because Lego stopped making monorails years ago, which is unfortunate. I'd so buy it too!

I bet we'll get that ship that Han and Qi'ra are flying towards the end of the last teaser and we'll get more of the characters from the movie.

I shared those pics for giggles and a minute later realized it may have been a faux pas.
Apparently the knockoff engineering tolerances aren't up to scratch anyway.

I wonder whether or not we'll be getting a Toys R Us exclusive this year. With many stores shutting down, it would be kinda pointless. (Unfortunetly one of those stores is Amy local TRU, boo...) I also wonder what it would be based on. Maybe we'll get one last Rebels set to end off the show?

 

On Monday I'm coming back home and I'll finally be able to build these two beauties.

sweet! i have the Silencer, but i didn't get to build it (i let my sister do it since she had never build anything with LEGO before.

i kinda want the star destroyer ~ if only to decapitate the fishy-eyed toilet monster over and over again .
it would be much cheaper to just buy him loose, though ~ hahahaha

i've never taken anything apart and tried to rebuild it before.
that would be interesting without the bags with the steps on it.
would probably take me forever. hahaha

 

There's also going to be a set depicting the Throne Room fight with ihs minifigure, so you may just wait for it.

One more thing - I know that the bad guys are cool and all, but why does Lego make so few Rebellion/Resistance capital ship sets? I want the Raddus, goddamn it!

 

oh right! forgot about that throne room set. yeah, i'd like that! : D

 

I'd guess because they're not as iconic or just don't sell as well (A recent example would be the Rebel Combat Frigate from 2016, which fell into both categories). Some of them would be great as a UCS set though!

I had a terrible experience using Brickseek today (I don't know if any of you have heard of it, but it's an invenrtory checker website). I went to two different Walmarts, because Brickseek said that they both had the First Order Heavy Assault Walker for 75% off (and one of them had the Star Destroyer for 75% also). Neither store had it, not on the shelves anyway. I was really disappointed! Oh well...
