RUMOR General Rogue One: A Star Wars Story News & Rumors Thread

Out of curiosity I read tidbit of information pertaining to Rogue One on 4chan (I seldom view 4chan as I don't appear to know how to use the platform and it seems very sketchy at best) that stated the following,

Here's some Rogue One plot details.

This will be considered a "greek tragedy" as most of the rogue one crew dies while stealing the plans. There's also a giant ground battle scene at the end that's very Saving Private Ryan inspired
The rogue one crew is comprised of bounty hunters, pirates, and smugglers. They don't really care about fighting the Empire at first, they just want money, but after seeing how horrible the Empire is first hand they convert to Rebels.
One of them is a secret Empire plant who betrays them
The main girl is Luke's love interest. She the only one who survives the heist. There's a flash forward to show how she meets Luke. (They'll be using de-aging tech on Mark Hamill similar to what they used in Tron: Legacy)
Darth Vader is in the film. There's a scene where he's about to wipe out the rogue one crew, but the 2 Jedi from Star Wars: Rebels show up to save the day.

I personally find it a bit unbelievable, especially the last bit - I thought this film was supposed to be "no Jedis, no special powers."

 

Agreed. General audiences have no idea who these jedis are. Are they just going to pop up with no explanation to save the day? It's ridiculous.

 

The part of the spoiler I found most irritating was any possible involvement of Luke. From a practical point Mark Hamill is available, given his involvement in VII ad VIII, but how he could possibly fit in into Rogue One is simply beyond me: He's a simple farmboy on Tatooine (again?) who's merely heard of the rebellion against the Empire and apparently has never been in Mos Eisley (hence Kenobi's introduction in ANH).

I think it would be worse, if his motivation to join the rebellion wouldn't be political but based on an infatuation with a girl.
There is one scene in Frank Darabont's excellent The Majestic where Jim Carrey admits why he joined these communist meetings: "I was a young horny man".

Oh please, don't give him a love interest as the main motivation to join the Alliance's cause.

 

Interestingly, this link Magnar had posted on Gary White thread had ythis part:
Film was also the first to report that this film was about a group of bounty hunters who steal the plans to the first Death Star, right before the original Star Wars. That’s very likely still the story, despite Whitta’s departure.

I found the news new to me. For some reason, I thought it was about rebels stealing the plans, not bounty hunters. Does anyone know if this part of the rumour is true or not? (I did read this in one supposed leaks but dismissed it as bs at the time.)

Do we have any idea of the budget for this movie? I assume it won't be $200 million like TFA, and overall it will probably be a much smaller affair, but it would be interesting to know the tentative budget and keep that information in mind as we go forward with our speculations and analysis and all

 

125 million is a good bet

Alot of the TFA sets are being reused so i dare say they wont need as much money to make it.

 

Becky? Who is Becky?

I know Chloe Bruce stunt doubled for Ridley and Levitt-Collins body doubled scenes as well. Ridley is like 4 inches taller than Felicity Jones.

 

I hadn't read that far down until now. But I was gonna say maybe "Becky" was a body double until u said it was someone else. I don't remember reading of a Becky being a double for Daisy.
