Luke bringing down and destroying a Star Destroyer is an absolute insult to the creativity I believe will be shown by Rian Johnson. I can't imagine him plagiarizing from a video game no matter what wink you think you're giving fans.

I'll choose to believe Mark Hamill when he says that Rian will ''make you forget all about ‘May the Force be with you.’..with so many new catchphrases.”

We're in for a familiar but brand new experience.

 

I absolutely agree. "Super-Luke" would be such an uninspiring direction to take the story! Luke 'forcing' bad guys to their knees left and right, pulling spaceships from the sky and whatever else these rumours have suggested for the sequel trilogy, all of that would just kill the tension and drama and depth. Damn I would be sad for Star Wars if it was reduced to this!

 

But that's literally exactly what happened in the Legends Force Unleashed and I would nt call it plagiarizing as much as ret-conning as you cant plagiarize a company's own work

Earlier this year there was a short 10-second trailer (if you even want to call it a trailer) showing some new VIII footage. At the time, I had hoped that Disney was going to be more generous this time around by giving us photos/teasers earlier than TFA. Unfortunately this does not seem to be the case even though Rian Johnson does update production more frequently than JJ. I am like the majority of you guys here and think the trailer will be dropped some time in the first 4 months of next year. I wish we can at least get the title sometime by Rogue One's release.

 

I bet we don't get a teaser until Guardians of the Galaxy next spring, once Rogue One is available to buy. Lucasfilm REALLY has to drive home the spinoffs are stand-alone films, and the only way to do that is to not conflate them in any way with the saga films.
Next May, that's my prediction for a real theatrical teaser.

 

I agree with you. I'd rather not see Luke turned into some kind of Jedi Superman or something.

 

We'll he would be recycling an idea that wasn't his to begin with. I don't see RJ stooping to that level. I could just see soooo many people and especially the casual fan just give major eye-roll and many 'ah, come on!' if ever a scene like that would come up on screen.

Same here , I'd rather see a broken Jedi. Sort of how Logan from Wolverine is setting himself up to be in the next film.

Anyways RJ said that this next film will be a testament to pushing the boundaries of the major characters. I imagine that includes Luke. Don't see everyone else being pushed and Luke come in as an all powerful fix everything savior.

 

Heads up @Ghost of Obi Wan Kenobi - criticism or inviting clarification is not what the word “trolling” means. Loose and frequent negative rating is much closer to the definition.

Members who take the time to dole out such ratings can probably expect to be asked for their reasoning every now and again - particularly if they don't make much sense.

Maybe it's because it's late, but I don't understand what's happening in that screenshot. Is that a source we know and trust? And why is SWNN's logo attached to it?

oh I don't know. It's a pretty logical conclusion. We theorized as much would be possible sitting around discussing Star Wars 30 years before Force Unleashed even came out. Especially after Empire when Yoda said size matters not we figured someone strong in the force could push a planet into its primary and we wondered if by Return of the Jedi Luke would be knocking over AT-ATs with the Force or pulling ships out of the sky, etc.
