I simply cannot believe that some people believed the Nuke Skywalker thing and tweeted Rian Johnson about it. I guess Einstein was right about the infinite things...

I need some news on this movie. I'm excited for Rogue One and it'll be a nice distraction but I'm very excited for a Rian Johnson helmed Star Wars movie lol

I expect that too, a frail Luke is not what I will pay £6.80 to see, I expect every penny of power unleashed.

    http://makingstarwars.net/2016/10/a...ke-skywalkers-look-in-star-wars-episode-viii/

"You may remember we ran a piece last April describing the look of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode VIII. Since that time many fans have taken the description and ran with it and we loved seeing the creative designs people came up with based on that description. Since then the costume art has taken on a life of it’s own and certain aspects of that are being attributed to the original report. Before we move on too far, I wanted to get the record straight on what we were seeing back during the filming of Star Wars: Episode VIII.

We were able to get Lumberjack Nick to do an accurate representation of Luke Skywalker’s Star Wars: Episode VIII costume. This depiction is from a training sequence where Rey is frustrated with Luke’s teachings. Nick decided to go with the mechanical look of the hand because we couldn’t tell if Luke had a robotic hand or the black glove in this sequence. He also didn’t appear to have a lightsaber at all but was holding either a thin spear, thin walking stick or a piece of junk so we gave him a placeholder object for his hand in the picture. The point of the photo is that you can see what the design is for Luke’s costume used in those rainy sequences between Skywalker and Rey. Rey’s costume is also accurate:

In the film, the costume is apparenlty just filthy most of the time. Skywalker is more like Yoda on Dagobah in terms of style than the white regal costume he wore to meet Rey at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This costume gets a lot dirtier in the film than the cartoon depiction by Lumberjack Nick. You will also notice there isn’t really any belt or anything for his lightsaber. It makes us wonder if what our friends out in Ireland saw was actually a saber or not during the filming as there seems to be some contention as to if Luke ever actually uses one in this film."

That last bit confused me...do they mean the white one gets dirty or the black one gets even more dirty?

Luke's costume change puzzles me because he had a perfectly good costume at the end of TFA that looked more impressive and "jedi-ish" than the Gandalf the Grey robes he's now wearing. Why the change?
It could be something as simple as Luke having more than outfit in his Ach-to wardrobe (after all, look at how many gowns Queen Amidala wore during the entirety of Episode I.) I also wonder if the grey outfit is Luke's normal stay-at-home clothes and TFA outfit was more "ceremonial." (This begs the next question: if TFA was more ceremonial, was he waiting for Rey's arrival?)

Whatever the case is, one things seems obvious: Disney/ Lucasfilm is going for the wise-old-Gandalf archetype with Luke Skywalker. Apart from his wizard-like wardrobe, I had heard a rumor last year that Luke carried a lightsaber that was pure white (like Gandalf's staff when he turns "white".) While this rumor is far from credible, it is curious how not too long afterwards Ahsoka Tano pulled out... pure white lightsabers in Rebels. (I wonder if this was originally intended for Luke, but the story group changed it to Ahsoka.)

I think that Luke was definitely aware that Rey was coming to Ach-to through the force. I also agree that he probably wore his most formal or ceremonial robes to greet her in. There is an obvious previous connection between them, regardless of what their relationship truly is. I personally don't think she's his daughter, but I'm not going to say that it isn't a possibility. The grey robes make the most sense to me as training robes. If we look back at his own training on Degobah, we see Luke seems to have a penchant for light grey clothing!

I'm guessing the costume change has as much to do with putting out a new action figure as it has the story.

I also think the TFA ending costume is too impractical for fight scenes. ;)

I think that lighting might have a lot to do with things. In the right shadows his bright Jedi master robes which are as good for fighting as any other robes (meaning they suck but Gandolf, Palps, and Yoda had to deal with that too).

I heard they may be shooting some episode nine here in Tampa Florida. Thoughts?

A good state to be shooting the conclusion of ST. Appropriate considering Florida will be the home of Celebration 2017.

I doubt it since that studio in the UK has a long term contract with disney and lucasfilm.
