Only on the "many news outlets are reporting that [insert small American town here] will house the production of the next Star Wars movie" articles, which are all fake and use the same procedurally-generated body of text.

Also, that last update was in July. So no, it's not a filming location.

Pinewood haves an American studio in Georgia if I'm not mistaken so it won't surprise me if there shooting on a Gulf Coast beach.

It's a fake report, though. Star Wars Episode VIII did not film in the United States.

I heard they're converting Mercury into an actual Starkiller 2 because they don't like CGI and want really practical effects.

This has been really interesting to me. I'm sure that they won't move up the release date, but they must be really close to having picture lock to be doing this with Williams. Typically he starts the recording process once a film is in it's final stages. I wonder how long Disney and LFL would sit on a film like this if it were done early. I'm sure the VFX are no where near done. I know with TFA they were pulling insane hours at the end to meet the deadline.

I wouldn't be shocked if they were already close to finishing editing. It looks like everyone involved in the production is extremely happy with what they already have. So far, we've heard incredibly positive things about this movie, including this tweet:

I'm pretty sure they're close to locking picture, which is great because it means they've got an entire year to focus on the VFX.

Back in August John Williams said he was shortly going to see a cut of the movie and he was excited to get to know who Rey's father is.

The window at which the picture seems to be wrapping up at doesn't really surprise me considering that it was originally intended for a May 2017 release. That they're planning to wait another seven months to release the movie, however, does.

A small info I got at German Comic Con in Dortmund last weekend, Samantha Alleyne (she played the first female stormtrooper in TFA) will be back in episode VIII (she is also in Rogue One). She promised to post a few bts pics when it is allowed. Neil Bishop is also playing a stormie and I met him as well. Additionally I met Alan Harris, Trevor Butterfield, Simon Williamson, Mike Edmonds and Paul Springer. :)
You may check some of my pics here. :)

That tweet was in regards to Edgar Wright's film "Baby Driver" coming out next year, not Ep 8 ;)

I think they didnt want or couldnt push it back only with 2-3 months (And summer 2017 was already pretty crowded. June has Wonder Woman and Transformers 5, july has Spider-man, although Star Wars VIII pushed back to summer would've probably changed everything).
And august till november arent really grand blockbuster months. They also probably saw the power of "Star Wars movie on Christmas release".

if the description is accurate.. and i'm inclined to trust MSW articles like this, then a 7-8ft Snoke would indeed put a dent in some of the recent theories.

sounds like a massive undertaking. can't wait to see him!

Ep 8 title? "Forces of Destiny"... I'm not sure I dig that since it's a bit redundant considering 7's title :/

    Or maybe it's something else?

VERY COOL... this was one of my few complaints about TFA, Snoke didn't look very real to me. If this is true then I'm real excited about the news.

It seems a bit generic, but given that legal registration of names is how some movie titles are first revealed, there might be something to this - it may very well be a working title, if not the actual name of the film. Looking into this.
