    What I hear is that we aren't going to get anything until Celebration. They want as much breathing room between R1 and VIII as possible. I hope that isn't true though, having a teaser for the Super Bowl would be perfect in my opinion.

    Here's my question: I'm planning on going to Celebration but mainly for the Ep VIII presentation. Is it safe to assume it will be on the first day (Thursday April 13th)?

    I don't think they've released a schedule yet, but the new movie panel has been on opening day for the past two Celebrations. I think it's a safe assumption.

    Odds are that the Super Bowl will be used to advertise Beauty And The Beast, Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2, and/or Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. A preview of Star Wars Episode VIII would be too early at that point, as it's only the fifth week of the year.

    Kathleen K said "early spring" which can mean anything after mid-march. I too agree that the trailer will not drop till Celebration, but I noticed that like TFA random casting/plot info will drop before that on random days via internet. I hope that the title for VIII will be here before Celebration.

    Right now, I'm expecting the next big Star Wars announcement to be about a bulk of the core cast of the Han Solo movie. Production is about to start on it, after all.

    Yes, that would be great. We live in a wonderful time where immediately after a Star Wars movie is released, another one enters full production, giving us a constant stream of news and rumors. Kids these days have no clue how spoiled they are :)

    Definitely. Back then we had to wait 3 years between for the PT episodes (I wasnt lucky enough to see the OT in theaters).
    Nowadays some say that Disney is inflating SW by providing a new movie each year, but I rather say this is the best thing which could've happened to a SW fan. 2 years between the main episodes, and a spinoff inbetween. This is the best way imo.

    It's way too early for either of those things to be plausible.

    The cast, I believe, will be revealed in the near future - some this month and some at Celebration - but aside from the returning characters, I wouldn't expect any major names to be revealed.

    I'm really hoping we get a young Sana in this movie. She's definitely been one of my favorite characters added by the comics. Seeing how exactly she and Han got married could be a really entertaining story.

    That's my assumption as well. Disney wants time to promote their other films that drop before VIII. However, remember that TFA got a teaser 1 year early, so you never know.

    I don't know, they may just wait to reveal the title until celebration as well. That is a very significant detail that they could turn into a major promotion for the events for celebration.

    I think the fact that Rogue One didn't get a teaser when TFA came out (Even though they could have easily shown the one from Celebration 2015) and Ep VIII didn't get a teaser in front of Rogue One means we shouldn't hold out for year in advance teasers anymore. TFA was an exception.

    They should stop teasing us. Everyone is eager for something. Just a couple seconds reel like the one we got when principal photography started would be enough for now...

    That's why I fully expect them to wait until celebration. They still want people to see R1, it hasn't completely run its course yet. You are right, TFA was an exception, having no other film in front of it that they had to worry about overshadowing.

    I still think the fact that the Rogue One teaser came out as soon as TFA hit home video tells us a lot about how they'll be doing things from now on. I expect the Ep VIII news to start pouring in once Rogue One hits home video (which I expect will be right around Celebration ;)).

    I think that the original plan was to save the first footage for Celebration and release another teaser and a trailer after that. Then J. J. Abrams decided that the fans needed to have their patience rewarded and gave us an early sneak peek in exchange for there being an extremely long wait between the second teaser (which dropped at Celebration in place of the original teaser) and the trailer.

    My guess is that as long as Star Wars movies keep opening in December, we should get used to the schedule presented by Rogue One: a teaser in April (after the latest movie hits home video), a trailer during the Summer, and another trailer (or two or three) in the period between October and the release of the film. I'd certainly be interested in seeing what they'll do if Han Solo doesn't get delayed to December 2018 like rumors are suggesting it will.
