I wonder if the OT characters will get more agency in 8 and 9.

It was truly a treat to have them in TFA, but the younger cast seemed to get the spotlight. Han had a pretty significant role, but that's about it.

Chewie had a slightly larger role.

C-3P0 barely made it into the film.

Luke was basically the objective of the film, and R2 served no other purpose than as a means to that objective.

Leia, great as it was to see her, served basically two purposes- Rebel general (which could've been generic, though wouldn't have been as cool) and means to inspire Han to try to win Ben back.

Again, I really loved having these characters in the film, and this being the first film in the trilogy I'd say they were handled pretty well, but I'd like to see them do more in the future. However- if Leia's just going to continue to serve as a Resistance general, it probably wouldn't be too hard to write around that.

After reading this tweet I immediately started grinning. Finally some news on my most anticipated film of 2017 (and 2016, to be honest!)

Just keep in mind that it could be a prank. The next episode of Pop Culture Quest will be the eighth one, and knowing Mark Hamill, he might be pulling the old switcheroo.

Yeah, I think it would be wise for them to drop the title before Celebration, or maybe have that announcement be the very, very first thing that gets done at Celebration, so that people aren't calling it "Episode VIII" or "the next one."

Yeah, i hope people don't get their hopes up for this, hamill pulled many SW pranks during the run up to TFA. This is probably a promo for his next pop culture episode.

I wonder if Mark feels a tremendous amount of pressure to carry the torch forward after the death of Carrie moving forward with the saga, and I also wonder if there's a part of him that would rather not do it without her. I'm sure Luke's role may have drastically changed in the script as well, now that Han and Leia are gone.

Mark is in a strange position. In-universe, Luke and Leia are alive, and Han is dead. IRL, Mark and Harrison are alive and Carrie is dead. I'm sure this paradox has or will cross his mind, because either way, he's going to have to commiserate with another member of the trio over a fallen comrade, and the people who are dead and alive swap. :(

I'm sure that Mark would be a big part of that discussion when everyone meets to talk about it in a few days .

    Hamill already debunked it.

IIRC, didn't the luke voice over and trailer sounds for teaser 2 actually get released by someone working at celebration because they tested the speakers with the trailer?

I think what it was was that it was an alternate trailer or something that had SOMe of the real dialogue so it wasnt a true leak.

Yes, the audio for the Force Awakens Trailer leaked the night before it debuted and the leaker got ripped up one side and down the other, ridiculed for it being fake, despite it having an original line of Han dialog in it at the end, "Chewie, we're home."
