It's not. That was just some random raid that the KOR took part in. If you adjust the lighting during the scene, you can apparently see the Skywalker Lightsaber in Kylo Ren's other hand, and the call sheets that leaked said that the scene (as it was originally conceived) was going to precede a scene of Maz Kanata sneaking in and stealing the lightsaber. (And that's why the "I'll tell you about how I got this thing later" line was added - the flashback was intended to cover that in greater detail before they revised it significantly in post-production.)

I'd completely forgot about that, thanks!

I figured it wasn't (due to the inclusion of a Clan Leader being killed by Kylo in the script as detailed by Pablo Hidalgo- perhaps this planet was Mandalore?) but the continuation of the rain that starts in Luke's shot (clutching at R2) into the shot of the slaughtered clan could still lend itself to Luke being on the same planet.

I'd argue against that - the point of the scene was to show that the myriad memories that Rey was being exposed to were bleeding into one another because the experience was simply that overwhelming for her. It's not like the Cloud City hallway actually collapsed into the Desert Planet where Luke said goodbye to R2-D2, for instance.

Apologies, I did not mean for that to comes across as my own opinion; I meant to only entertain it as a possibility, which it still remains.

I, myself, do agree with you: Rey's memories and experiences are merging and bleeding into one another, along with the past events surrounding the history of the Skywalker legacy lightsaber.

It's also worth noting that during the "force-back," Rey also sees visions of the future. The sequence ends with Kylo stepping out in front of her much the same way as he does when she first really encounters him in the forest. He actually appears (I think) in the snowy Starkiller forest during Rey's vision, but again, the way he steps in front of her is similar.

So Rey is seeing glimpses of the future too. Like you guys are discussing, the scenes and timeframes are definitely melding during Rey's vision. Pomo said "random raid," it could be that and a glimpse at the rumored Rey/Luke vs Kylo/KOR showdown. Or maybe not.

Huh? Looks like they'd be on schedule for a May release.
That they're already happy with the movie this far out is great news.

It's strange indeed. Rogue One at this point was months away from beginning the reshots. I wonder what version did he see though. I mean, It can't be a full cut right now...

Probably an early cut, but remember: John Williams will record the soundtrack in April. Giacchino started scoring Rogue One in November.

It's very uncommon for blockbusters to be finished this early.

Of course it's not. We are still 10 months away from the premiere, CG isn't finished, the score is being recorded, there's plenty of things to do. However, this way, no one needs to hurry and the quality of the finished film will only benefit from that. Haste makes waste and Lucasfilm probably learned this lesson while making Rogue One.

It will be mostly absent of music or be using temp tracks, and the sound effects will be other sound effects than in the final version, and the CGI will be very primitive. It takes someone who know what's they're looking at to see where it's going.

An editor hates bringing in clients at this stage of the project, because usually they have no clue what they are looking at and make stupidly obvious observations. I'm going to assume Bob Iger knows what he's looking at.

I have this recurring fantasy that the biggest secret about TLJ, is that Disney plans to surprise everyone with a 40th birthday May 2017 release after all. Imagine the sound of a billion fans crapping themselves all at once. If they do this, I pledge to have a set of Mickey Mouse ears tattooed over my left nipple, and purchase a DVD of "The Aristocats" post haste.

Even though they pushed the release, the film's schedule was already completed and still on track, so yeah, it wil most likely be around 99.9% ready by May but wont be released until December because --- Reasons.

I can imagine cooler things to happen than FigrinDan getting tatoos and a DVD.
