If you sit and really think about what R2 and Chewie actually knew, it makes their actions in the OT completely ridiculous.

I can't fault JJ for not having the entire story mapped out. I think it's better that each writer fill in the gaps with their version. Otherwise, you may as well just have JJ and Kasdan write the whole darn thing.

Having each director just pick up where the last left of is a good way of keeping things fresh but within the SW universe thanks to the Story Group

 

Threepio was a droid that anakin built from scraps as a fun project. It was a common droid which is why owen lars wouldnt have recognized him necessarily and they all almost all sound the same. anakin took him in AOTC because he belonged to anakin the entire time and his mom only kept him at anakin's request.

 

His name was Threepio. How many Threepio's were there? We all have to make up our own head canon to justify the connections in the Prequels and TCW. You can make anything make sense, but that doesn't make it smart writing.

Needless to say I have no worries about stuff like that in TLJ. Not concerned at all about Lucasfilm not having the whole trilogy plot pre-written.

 

I meant in terms of the model of being a protocol droid like a C-model? I remember reading that being canon.it might be legends now, though.

Because Lucas had no idea what he was writing. He just wanted everything to connect and went overboard. That's why it drives me nuts when fans want to say Snoke has to be Plagueis or Rey has to be related to someone from the OT. If anything, Threepio should have been TC-14 working for the Nemodians and he should have tagged along with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan as a translator, then met up with Artoo etc. He could have been the comic relief and there would have been no need for Jar Jar.

 

Not to mention all the established personality quirks each droid seems to have individually.
Threepio and artoo seem to have some very unique droid personality that would stand out....

 

So proud of these guys, especially the irish ones.

 

Now there's rumors going around Snoke has a black lightsaber.

I don't believe them, but they originated on reddit, then MIKE ZEROH started reporting it (which I then threw into the trash).

 

Or be connected to Bail Organa since the beginning. Actually, there's no need to put R2 and 3PO in the prequels at all. They might have been shown in Episode 3 only, just to call back the first scene of Ep4.

 

Exactly this. According to the PT, Chewie personally knew Yoda ffs... How does that comply with Han (who was in his teenage years during the jedi lead clone wars btw) not knowing about the jedi and their abilities?
And people complain about the cameos in Rogue One... Half of the OT cast should have never been in the PT at all.

 

It was much more ergregious to have Ponda Baba and Dr. Cornelius Evazan in R1 than to have Chewie fight with Yoda and everyone magically forget unique droids like R2 and 3PO

/sarcasm.

So we are to believe that at no point Chewie said to Han, "Yeah, in the war I fought with a tiny little green dude who could flip blast with his mind and do incredible things."

 

Perhaps there is no sound for "tiny little green dude" in chewies language.

 

TCW kept the plot holes going with this....



Revised TESB scene - Luke lands on Dagobah

Luke: "this sure is a strange place to find a Jedi Master"
R2: "No it's not, I was here during the Clone Wars with one"
Luke: "Still there's something familiar about this place. I don't know I feel like...
Yoda: "Feel like what?"
Luke: "Like we're being watched!"
R2: THAT'S HIM THAT'S YODA! I flew with him here in the back of a ship that looked like the cockpit of a Tie Fighter but had a droid slot making my head stick out really far."
Yoda: "Hmmm, I told you to act like we never met if you were to ever see me again!"
R2: "Oops." Beep Boop Beep.
