I would guess it's a very very vocal minority.

I used to care about audience ratings. Nowadays I disregard them completely... Troll-voting and people not knowing what they're talking about are two of the reasons... I'm with you in that I didn't expct it to be this divisive. I wish Rian and the folks at LFL strength to remain 100% confident with what they created.

All our? Speak for yourself. It amazes me when JJ was announced the vocal minority cried and moaned.

    The Force Awakens
Some Star Wars fans: "It's too much like the other Star Wars films!"

Rian was announced and vocal minority jumped for joy.

    The Last Jedi
Some Star Wars fans: "It's too different from the other Star Wars films!"

Conclusion? Some Star Wars fans will never be happy. Just let go and enjoy it.

I'm not talking about JJ in particular. Just the story. And the pain and angst are not the result of a bad movie- but because of a good movie. I'm desperate to see where they end

Blu-Ray and DVD pre-orders are up on Amazon UK, citing the former format as having Resistance and First Order limited edition sleeves (continuing the trend from the Light/Dark Side sleeves that we saw with TFA’s home release).

Damn, of course the line which started the flooding of my eyes was written by Carrie (also a great nod to her interaction with Han in TFA). Her ultimate revenge! :D

I’m not seeing enough people talk about that scene, by the way. That seriously had me welling up, smiling, crying a bit more...it was so beautifully written, and it felt like it was paced to hold your feeling’s hand.

it's Luke's "nobody is ever lost" line that got me crying both times i watched this. for so many reasons, including Carrie.

Quick reminder - both Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic can be easily manipulated - hence why, with the latter, Star Wars Battlefront II's score is so abysmally low from the audience side of things. IMDB, at the very least, has countermeasures against bot-based manipulation, which is why it's much higher and arguably a better representation of what people actually thought of the movie.

IMDB may be menipuled as well.
There were people voting before the movie came out.

My honest opinion is that the critics ranking is far too high.
Look, one may like the movie... but an expert should have pointed to some questionable scenes
(like Leia-Superman) and some objective weaknesses the movie has.

They hyped so much the movie, they don't know how to take back their words without looking... buy.

That said... I can share a personal story you may take for what it's worth.

I went to see the movie with my husband.
    He's a sci-fi guy. Above all a Doctor Who fan, and - sorry - a treky.
He enjoys everything from Alien to Marvel and DC movies too.
So he does with LOTR etc..

Of course he likes SW too.

He's not a fan boy, but someone who knows and loves SW as many (the vast majority) of people does.

And I haven't seen him react so bad to a movie the way he did with this one, never.
He didn't like Justice League, but he just said "It's fun but stupid"

But from a SW movie he always awaits for something more than entertainment, something... good.
For the record, he liked TFA but sure he wasn't enthusiast.
But he loved, absolutelly loved, R1.

This time, he's astonished. So much so he's leaving reviews on some Italian pages - something
he nerver did - telling TLJ is the worst movie he saw this year.

Not that my husband is eveyone, of course.
Some of his frieds enjoyed the movie, but they're telling "is just fun as a popcorn movie may be"
    not that is a masterpiece.

I honestly believe there's definitely something that is not going to go how LF thought.

You point specifically to Leia Superman as an objectively poor scene. Ask yourself and your husband the following question, and allow yourself to answer honestly: what would your reaction be if Leia, the daughter of Chosen One Anakin Skywalker and the twin sister to Jedi Master Luke, died without ever ONCE using the Force in an active and meaningful way (rather than just reaction shots of her passively "feeling" through the Force). Be honest. I, for one, would not have been happy, and I surmise a great many fans would be upset as well. Probably a fair portion of those very fans that are blindly criticizing this same.

In all honesty, I coudn't care less of seeing Leia doing more than she always did with the Force.
However, if you really have to do, be you honest: is that the only possible way to reach that goal? I don't think so.
    That scene is stupid.

And while there are some are beautiful scenes in the movie, I cannot help but being stunned of how poor some others where.
See for instance.... Luke aka Regan in the The Exorcist.

It's even worst that Vader screaming Nooooo at the end of ep.III
