A.) No, it's not the only way it could have been done. That wasn't my point. My point is Carrie is DEAD, and without having done this, even if it was a tad silly, we would have NEVER gotten to see Carrie as Leia actually USING the Force. That we got to before her death is FAR MORE important than any silliness about her posing. Again, if you think her pulling herself back to the ship using the Force is out of left field, you haven't been paying attention to the force powers introduced in the comics, cartoons, and novels. It was tame by comparison. Ezra and Kanan fly like Superman all the dang time.

B.) I wholeheartedly disagree that it was anywhere near the cheese of Darth Vader's "noooo" or much of the other cheese of the PT.

But my point was not that Carrie is dead. I was speaking only of the scene itself.
You asked me if I cared about seeing the character Leia doing something speacial with the force.
My answer is I wasn't particually interested in that.
But still, if RJ, LF and some of the fan care about it more than I do, instead of having that scene i TLJ
they may have came to something else. In the very same movie.
    That's all.

That said, of course people reactions are subjective not objective.
But I find weird that no one among the critics - normal people as we are - felt that something
is not that ok, that fine. So much so, them all say pretty the same things.

I have a theory for why Luke's green saber is not in TLJ...I didnt think it warranted a thread so I'm posting it here:

Ben took his saber/crystal and turned it red after defeating his master after Luke thought about killing him

It makes sense to me as to where Ben would have found a crystal so easily .

Perhaps, but I think that it’s much more likely that...

...he uses his kyber crystal from his blue lightsaber, which we see in the flashback to that fateful night. Though I can see why one might then argue that Ben might have left that lightsaber and took Luke’s, it’s important to note that Kylo Ren’s crossguard lightsaber hilt shares the exact same design as Ben’s blue one. We’ve never had a character lose a lightsaber before only to reconstruct an identical one, as far I’m aware, and considering how poorly constructed Kylo’s lightsaber is, I think it’s likely that he would be unable to construct a new one so well in the first place, instead retrofitting/reconstructing his.

I personally think that Luke never retrieved his lightsaber from the wreckage, and possibly vowed to never pick one up again after that incident, which ties into what Mark said in his own made-up background story for Luke about his hiding on Ahch-To somewhat, about having a child and the child accidentally killing themselves with the lightsaber, and being similar to domestic gun problems and the like.

It certainly can be. However, there are precautions put into place, because they've been dealing with that problem for years. I don't remember what they are, just that they're there, and it's why the score is at a much better place there than it is for the other sites.

Sure. But we don't know why.
    Again there are many variables.
One of those is also the kind of people that use a certain tool.
For example the people active on Twitter is different from those attive on Facebook. Of corse some use them both, but many don't. Age, culture, education influencles our choices to use one platform or another.
Overall what I'm trying to say os not that RT scores of those of IMBD are to be 100% believed.
But if you look around you see people complain everywhere. So I guess there's something interesting going on.
Not that the movie has to be trash and the press buy.
I just think that we should have to admit that this movie may be divisive, more than others of this franchise.
And this fandom is far too large.
Generations are different. Tastes are very different (taste, not headcanon). Education, culture. The miracle until now, has been that - no matter what - it has been so large and for so long indeed. I believe that's because everyone was able to find something that speaks to him/her. That according to their ages (when they discovered the saga and now, and all the rest of variables that make each one of us different)
Therefore I just don't think is that surprising that people may react passionaly when you take risks. I don't know how many are reacting not that well. But I think is not just a bunch of mad and stupid nerds. Not just haters.
And it may be worth discuss.
Because in all honesty I don't think that the 40 years success of this franchise is only due to the fact that every decades or so, a trilogy has been made that somehow enlarged and renewed the fandom.

Why was her using the Force so important to her character? This isn't Legends Leia. They put far more focus on her position as military commander and political firebrand this time around and that was perfectly fine. It wasn't worth having a scene that is continually incoherent, visually jarring and ultimately doesn't make much sense even when she gets back to the ship.

You seriously don't get why it's not important that the twin sister of Luke Skywalker and daughter of "the chosen one," who we know from canon has the same Force potential as Luke and whom Yoda references directly as a second last hope for the Jedi, actively uses the Force prior to her untimely demise (both for fans of Carrie and to see decades-long set up of her potential finally come to fruition)? You really don't get it?

Also, what do you mean by "continually incoherent?" Did you mean the continuity is incoherent? Or that it is continuously incoherent (which doesn't make sense to me)?

Either way, you are again asserting your opinions as fact. They are just your opinion (many others hold the same opinion, I get it). But I simply disagree with them. It makes a great deal of sense to both the story and to her character to do what she did. I just disagree with the execution. But I am ok with it in the end because of everything else I've mentioned.

I found Carrie Fisher's portrayal as it was to be interesting. I don't need fan service that only serves to be an excuse to have her off-screen so that Poe and Holdo can have their ultimately pointless and nonsensical conflict. I get the desire but then again, this is also the same movie where the fall of Luke's Jedi Order, Luke's interaction with the main villain prior to the trilogy, Snoke's leverage over Ben and the ideas that created the First Order are entirely glossed over in favor of what is essentially tantamount to filler.

Hear is one think i dont quite understand but its my opinion in the matter. Why does Poe introduce himself to Rey. Was it cause he doesnt in TFA? This wasnt the first time he meets/seen Rey. There are literally 3ft away from each other at the end of TFA. You mean to tell me within that 5mins scene they didnt know each other. that they know Finn. Princess Leia. Im just saying. we get the ending of TLJ that they meet or introduce each other.
