It sounds like it's time for me to once again trounce out the third order.

Driver's former master retrieved the lightsaber from Bespin which will be revealed in our rumored flashback. Perhaps in a struggle between Driver and his master, or through the actions of Boyega the lightsaber ends up on our desert planet of but one sun. It is the macguffin which drives the plot early in the film, an AWOL Stormtrooper on his own doesn't drive a plot. The Empire doesn't wipe out villages chasing after a Stormtrooper, but if they think he has something...

Again I will say I think Driver manipulates Christie into chasing after Boyega claiming he has information he has stolen and plans to give to the rebels

 

This was what they say:

So no, all mere speculation.

 

They did not exactly spill the beans..lol.But us beggars can't be choosers I guess..

 

Daisy Solo has a blue lightsaber in one of the concept art images. It will be her that has the lightsaber, not Boyega. She's of the Skywalker lineage.

How it gets in her hands is another question ...

 

Is Lobot involved?
I seriously don't think Luke's first light-saber will be such a important plot point.
Several rumors/clues seem to pull that way but how or why it's significant seems to be yet known.

The closer TFA gets, the more I feel the main bad guys won't be Sith or Plaguis but a new villian trying to pit the Sith & Jedi against each other. The Republic-Empire conflict is secondary at this point.

Well that was pretty useless.

 

Could they just have been referring to which saber sound they used for the trailer "as a generic good guy saber sound" or were they explicitly stating it is relevant to the plot that it was this saber sound they used?
Because it seems to me they could have just as easily have been saying it in a "yeah, that's the sound we used from the archive, cool huh..." kind of way...

 

I never viewed the lightsaber plotline as debunked myself, we could see ol' blue and faithful return from the depths of Bespin

 

I think the Serkis voice in the teaser may ONLY be in the teaser. The characters he plays may have different voices altogether. Methinks it's a bit of calculated misdirect, especially how he's basically doing a version of Cumberbatch. In the end, it may still be MvS voicing something inhuman. Maybe Serkis is as well, but something tells me it could have been just a trailer voice. This is my opinion. I also think it's generic, and it saddens me as MvS could kill that bit.

 

Honestly I'm kind of surprised they threw out this bit of info so early on. We have no character names or anything really, in terms of confirmed stuff, and now they go ahead and confirm a long-lost lightsaber from two movies ago has somehow been brought back?

 

You're right. It's just so... I dunno... generic. An indistinct cliche GRIMDARK VOICE! I wish it had a more unique vibe, be it intonation, accent, speech pattern, something.

Personally, I don't really hear anything inherantly sinister in the voice. I think Serkis plays a neutral character - someone knowlegeable... a historian or a mystic of some kind. I don't think we are hearing one sentence, I think they are two separate sections of dialogue put in context of one another for the trailer.
It's got the same sort of vibe as Yoda's "you will be, you will be" line from TESB - if you heard that in isolation, you might think it was the voice of an antagonist. I reckon this is just the voice of a wise character explaining to our heroes what's going down in the galaxy...
