I was a bit gutted that more wasn't made of his death. That's my only gripe. Leia spoke out when they had to go back for Luke in ESB, I though they would have added to her sense/acknowledgement of his death by saying something to the control room, no idea what as I'm not a writer, maybe a 'get them all out of there, they're in terrible danger!' Or some other such line.

Han's down; the best scene in the movie.

    ;)

Well said! It was the exact opposite of "going out in a blaze of glory" but that only made it better. Every second of the scene was a natural expression of a father's selfless love.

And, I'll add that I loved how Chewie didn't play around—he blasted the hell out of Kylo with no hesitation.

Great scene and a very emotional moment watching a bit of your childhood die in front of you it works on 2 levels that scene for me as a pivotal plot point but also made the Luke reveal more meaningful to me as as one was taken we were given more of your childhood back .....LOVED IT

This scene was well done Heartbreaking because you saw the bond between Han and Rey growing as well. Loved chewie not getting involved until it happened and then lighting Kylo Ren up.

My wife, who until now has shown no real interest in SW, got really upset at that scene.

What a heart wrenching moment. Unforgettable. As some of you have wisely said, this scene completes Han's arc and character evolution. We all knew it would hurt beforehand, but once you actually see it, damn...I was already buried in my seat the moment Han walks towards the bridge. My instant thought: "Well, I guess this is it."

A beautiful scene. Really beautiful. Truly well done. Still, I will miss my old buddy, no doubt about it. Oh, well...:(

In regards to the scene where Kylo kills Han, I do not see the son being redeemed in this trilogy, not by his mother, not by his uncle, and probably not by his cousin. Allow me to explain:

Anakin Skywalker did not walk away from his family, he was warped into evil by his choices that were made in order to save those he loved. By those choices to save others, he became Darth Vader. Ben Solo consciously chooses to walk away from his family and those that love him, and embrace hate for sole selfish purpose of obtaining the power of the dark side and became Kylo Ren. I am going to say what was redeemable within him died long ago. What was seen as torn and conflicted within him will always remain, but the capacity for him to choose right is not there. He will be destroyed, possibly by Snoke, or a turned Rey, but not redeemed.

Would have liked more shots of an emotional Chewie. He was sadder in ESB when Han was out in the cold on Hoth.

Kylo is one conflicted guy. His range of emotions gets the better of him really and Snoke is gonna reign that in because over confidence his weakness.

But I was waitiung the whole movie for the moment between Han and Kylo. I knew it was coming and I didn't want it to.It was one of the best scenes in the movie. Strong and emotional and made me hate Kylo. Not his character, per se just for what he done because Adam Driver is awesome as Kylo

Before opening this thread, I thought of my favorite scene. Yes, the interaction between Han and his son Ben was the best scene of the movie and probably what got Harrison Ford back in the first place.

The Han / Kylo interaction was very, very well done. Not the least of which was because both character made so much sense. Han came full circle in the same moment his son, conflicted, chose the dark path (once and for all?).

Maybe this isn't the right thread, but it's on my mind. A lot of folks have questioned Leia and Han naming him Ben. Yes, Kenobi and Han weren't bosom buddies in ANH, but think about Han's journey, especially in light of his speech to Finn and Rey. He didn't believe, either. A bunch of mumbo-jumbo. But it's true. All of it.

Obi-Wan was Leia's "only hope" in destroying the first Death Star.
Han and Leia would never have met without Obi-Wan.
Leia's brother would never have become the Last Jedi who broke the Empire without Obi-Wan.
Their son, the grandson of Obi-Wan's fallen padawan, is a powerful Force user who they hoped would follow his uncle down the path of light.

    Makes sense to me.

Ben Solo. We did't see that coming did we.

I just really need Rey to be Luke's daughter or a lot of the implied emotions from this movie will be for nothing.

Maz and Rey, for whatever reason, felt like the most important scene. I loved it.

The movie theater we were at made an audible gasp and groan during this scene. I knew it was coming, but a lot of people didn't.

I also got a bit teared up hearing Han talk about Luke. It's a shame they didn't get screen time together.

My favourite scene was probably the duel between Kylo and Rey.

It was just lightyears away from the pretentious bombastic prequel fights.

It was grittier, more down to earth, more real. And most importantly - more like the OT.

I don't see the story of Kylo's redemption working after this. From a real world perspective, the audience will always remember Kylo as "The Guy Who Murdered Han". They might write a story where the characters (Leia?) forgive him, but the audience will not forgive him.

That scene was probably my favorite as well. I knew Han was going to die, yet somehow I was utterly astonished.
I also really enjoyed the ending. It was foreshadowed in a way when Kylo Ren told Rey about an an ocean with a lone island(I am not sure if I am remembering that quite correctly). What really surprised me was how badass Luke looked. His hair was amazing; notice it is is in the same style as Anakin's was in ROTS(but it looked so much cooler on Luke).
I really look forward to seeing TFA again in a better theater, the one I was in was fine but I didn't get the best view.

    Also!!!!

    I noticed another thing

When he kills the Vicar, he IMMEDIATELY reacts to Poe shooting. Like half a second reaction.

But when he kills Han, he doesn't react to Chewie shooting. I think that means that some little tiny part of him still cared about Han.
