I just finished Alan Dean Foster's novelization of TFA, and it included a pretty major omission from Han Solo's final scenes that I haven't seen anyone on here discussing yet. When Leia and Han are saying goodbye for the final time before the battle, Han says "there's something I've been meaning to say for a long time." Leia interrupts him and asks him to tell her when he gets back. Later, as he is dying, Han regrets leaving something left unsaid. The music in the audiobook is very mysterious, giving me the impression that he is holding a very big secret. Maybe it will be revealed in the flashback Han is rumored to be returning for in episode 8...

That he really had that back child support he owed her all along??

That even he can't figure out why he gave up on his son and went completely backwards as a character??

Maybe it was "okay okay I gave up and went back to smuggling...but your hero brother went I to hiding because he's down in the dumps....some Jedi"??

Hm... Was thinking of "I love you" because I don't remember him saying it in the OT, but... I'm not sure because I think he said it in Return of the jedi, am I right ?

He probably did think of "I love you" and hoped to reconcile with Leia, I don't think that's a big secret, their feelings were clear in the movie.

He did say it in ROTJ, it was a reverse of ESB scene:

It's like JJ went out of his way to delete pretty much every important character moment.

Wow, there are more than a few holes in that story plot and I do not buy it. I think him leaving Leia is just what he said in the movie and book. It was his way of coping and do what he thought was best for Leia. I am still not convinced that Rey is Luke's daughter. I am leaning to the Kenobi connection given the voices she heard in her force vision. I think it would be great is she was Kenobi's granddaughter.

His unspoken secret? When he returned to smuggling, he met another woman, and together, they had a another child...

Every time someone says they don't feel Rey is Luke's daughter, I will ask them this question:
"Who will continue the Skywalker family after the trilogy?"

Until there is a better answer for this, Rey is Luke's daughter.

Also, Rey could still be Luke's daughter and Kenobi's granddaughter assuming that Rey's mother was Kenobi's daughter.

The question of why Rey hears Obi Wan in the force vision is an easy one. Obi Wan personifies the Force. So it would be he and Yoda who as force ghosts would connect to her. It has nothing to do with lineage other than as a Light Side Force User.

It would be a interesting move to make her a Kenobi instead of a Skywalker, I believe Han had lost the will to continue in the alliance & went back to his smuggler life as a coping mechanism.

So do you feel that he will be redeemed and survive the trilogy?
Because honestly, if that doesn't happen, he's not having any kids, and the Skywalker family will end with him.

I still think Rey, or another, currently unkown Skywalker are more likely to carry on the Skywalker family name.
I don't really see Disney ending the trilogy with only a Solo, and not a Skywalker.
Will Ben Solo be "reborn" as a Skywalker or something? Will he adopt the name of his grandfather on his redemption? I don't really like that idea...

I'm with you on this one too. I posted a few days ago after hearing Kenobi in the flashback/forward scene. Who says there has to be a Skywalker...lol as much as I love that dysfunctional family...

If Luke hast to tell Rey he's her father in the next one...I'll be smh the whole dang time.

I think a Kenobi twist could be interesting. We will have to wait and see though :D

George Lucas and now Kathleen Kennedy.
KK has made it quite clear that the "saga" films will continue to focus on the Skywalker family.

Interesting read. Han did act awkward around Rey during some moments like there's a big elephant in the room and he's trying to hide it.

I'm not buying this whole Kenobi thing, it is beyond my comprehension that anybody would think that's a good idea.

If you believe the Prequels are canon - Wasn't the Jedi Council's whole schtick about freeing yourself from any personal attachments? Wasn't that the whole reason Anakin went to the dark side, because he disagreed with the Jedi way? And Obi Wan was the absolute embodiment of the Jedi way, he did EVERYTHING by the book. Does every Jedi Council member have a lady on the side?

Now if you just scrap the prequels then I guess it's possible. And I'd be totally fine with that... ;)

My belief is that Han KNOWS who she is, but it's not his place to tell her. I think they (might) all know who she is and are just letting her find her own desting.

HOWEVER, that "secret" might be that Han knows who Rey is but was sworn to secrecy by Luke, and he feels guilty about never telling Leia. Maybe! :)

It really depends on whether or not this is the final Episode trilogy.
I hope it is and they continue with spin-offs, or they at least wait about 10-15 years and move on with a new generation.

at the cinema, half way through the ep8.

Luke: Rey, you're a daughter of Qui-Gon Kenobi, who was a son of Obi-Wan-Ben Kenobi.
    Rey: Hmm, cool.

    and now imagine this.
    Luke: Rey, I...am your father.
Rey: Oh...what..but..why..'cries in arms of Luke'
Crowd: OHHHHHMYYYYYYYGAWWWWD WHAT DID HE SAY, HAVE YOU HEARD IT OH SHEEEEIT.
