SPECULATION How important is it to you, that Rey is a Skywalker/Solo?

Whatever Rey learns will help her get over her need to return to Jakku, but when she learns the truth, she'll realize it should not affect who she is. Sounds a bit foreboding to me.

 

I think that it should only be made clear who her parents are not in tlj. Then leave 9 for descovering her legacy as part of her story arc in 9. The is she isnt she a skywalker has been chewed on so much at this point that it disqualifies her being a Skyalker as a reveal and thus such a 'revelation' would have been stripped of the impact or the originality it should posses.

 

If MSW is right about her returning to Jakku, then the answers might lie there. This could connect her with the Emperor in some way. I've been saying for weeks we'd return to Jakku because Finn foreshadowed it in TFA.

 

Totally...i want more to Rey's story than it solely being a tool of Kylo's redemption...she needs her own issues and charachter development besides the main Skywalker conected story arc in order to be a believable charachter.

 

Rian said Luke and Rey are the "beating heart" of TLJ, so I think whatever happens with Luke and Snoke is what will lead her to seek out the truth. J.J made her existence sound like it could change the universe, and Rian said it doesn't matter where she came from. This makes me think her choices will affect everyone, but it's less about her parents and more about why the Force awoke in her and what she'll do next.

 

Thats still good cuz it makes her her own. Independent in impirtance so to speak. Not an instrument that serves a purpose.

 

I agree. That's what I think she needs to be of a different bloodline than our former trio. She can still be a Skywalker if she takes the name in honor, but the EW article said family goes beyond blood in TLJ.

 

Yes. Her independence demands for her to be something else other than just another Skywalker

I'm not sure I even want her to be a Kenobi. I think Nobody works for her best.

 

She's not a nobody. That is the irony of when she says she's a nobody. Her significance is what will drive her story. Luke and Anakin thought that they were nobodies. I dont think shes a skywalker though. A force created demi goddess would be significant.

 

Possibly. I'm starting to think she's a sort of new version of Obi-Wan (not related) who has to fix things since the Skywalkers keep falling to the dark side.

Interesting. New TLJ merchandise (cards I think) have a family legacy section and it's only Vader, Luke, Leia, Han and Ben.

 

That is interesting. Though, it would be silly (yet not entirely unprecedented) if Rey's parentage was spoiled that way.

Rey can become a Skywalker "from a certain point of view" (I've read that Rey and Ben Solo can't be a thing because she's only 19 year old and there's 10 year difference with Kylo).
