I think she can do it, she may need to take a page out of Obi Wan's book of a defensive strategy until the right moment comes.

Luke was able to take on Vader when he wasn't even a Jedi Knight. Why can't Rey take on Kylo?
Let's compare Rey and Luke in terms of fighting ability and force power ability.
Luke undergoes a period of physical training on Dagobah with Yoda. This training turns him from farmboy Luke into Luke who knows how to fight.
He leaves before training is complete and his force power ability is seriously lacking.
Rey isn't a farmgirl, she knows how to fight. If Rey TFA and Luke Empire were to have duel with force powers turned off, who would win?
How long does it take to learn how to use the force? In ANH Luke asks how can he deflect blaster bolts with a blast shield down. How many seconds elapse between him saying that and him successfully deflecting blaster bolts? Obi-Wan emphasizes to Luke that he must use his instincts and he does so.
People are assuming that there must be a huge chasm between Rey and Kylo, but why?
Was there a huge chasm between Luke and Vader? Vader was stronger, but Luke was able to duel him.
How powerful is Kylo compared to Vader?
    Try to rank the following
Farmboy Luke, Luke (Empire), Luke (Jedi), Vader (Empire), Vader (Jedi), Scavenger Rey, Rey (forest duel) and Kylo.

Same could be said for when Luke went to fight Vader in ESB. You can explain that away by saying Vader was just testing him and showing him the power of the dark side before he got annoyed after Luke got that hit on his shoulder.

Same could happen in this film if they're related or Rey is important to him somehow (with spoilers pointing towards that being the case)
He certainly doesn't hold back on Finn though by the looks of it!

If they say that Kylo is unfinished at this point this fight becomes way less unfair compared to what Luke had to face in ESB. How they show her trying to block the swings of a 6, 3" ex marine will be interesting though.

I think that Rey fights Kylo Ren but is defeated and just when he is about to deliver the killing blow and fans everywhere expect this to be the moment that Luke appers, Rey is saved by non other than Fluke Starbucker! The most awesome Jedi in the galaxy!

I agree with you completly Pastor Barndod. Sometimes fans forget that the most simple detail can turn the tide of the battle. Just a little overconfidence got Maul sliced in half and when we see ESB we can say that the same thing happened to Vader. On the final moment of their battle, just moments before Vader cuts Luke's hand off, Luke hits Vader on the shoulder with his lightsaber. The only reason why Vader didn't go down right there was because his armor saved him but had Vader not have been protected by that armor, Luke's saber would have sliced his shoulder right there and Vader would have probably been the one to both loose his lightsaber down the shaft and had lost that battle against Luke.

I'm a Kylo Fanboy already, but i think there will be some surprises left for him delivered by Rey. Furthermore I'm certain Rey can be seen using the force unconsciously in the material released up until now. So Rey going all in is no problem for me, to the contrary I'm waiting for this to happen.

I didn't read any synopsis out there, i just don't trust them. Just for the record.;)

Had Harrison Ford not been in Star Wars, Lucas would have spent the 80s producing Saturday morning cartoons. Han Solo stole the show. Hamill's Luke was whiny, annoying and came off unappealing and at times even weak. He was much better in ESB, and was probably underused in ROTJ, but make no mistake, the chicks dug the Falcon, the vest, and the side holster swag.

Where is there any indication that she is untrained? She flies a freighter like a boss in a dogfight, and she handles thugs with a staff like a ninja. She told BB8 her background was classified. Are we just assuming she learned to fly and fight through four hour webinars on her dial up laptop?

From the leak today about Kylo's past....Finn/Rey should not be able to handle Kylo. Finn and Rey's back story will have to fill in the gaps of what we don't know about them to be able to fight Kylo. Finn could be one of the top fighters in the first order, Rey could have had training on Jakku as part of her everyday life...but still not to be able to handle Kylo.

Kylo most likely had to be on the verge of killing them both before whatever happens to stops him
