Poe is a master pilot, Rey never left Jakku before ep VII ... Not so easy to learn space battle.

No way in hell, Luke, Han and Leia were shooting TIE fighters at first shot. There is no lost shot in Crait's turret scene. Every shot gets his target, right on the money.

You guys, just invented a story that wasn't on screen, Luke was in the mood, defenseless, Rey could have kill him. Pathetic like during all the movie.

It's canon that Rey ran lots of flight simulations while on Jakku. She had lots of experience.

Anyway, in response to the main point of this thread. TLJ takes care of the "why is Rey so powerful" issue in really clear terms. Powerful light, powerful darkness. It's not about Rey and her training or her skills. It's about the Force using her as a vessel of the light side in Luke's absence.

    Force Ex Machina.

I think that it is legitimate that some people don't like that kind of lazy writing.

Does that imply somewhere that if Kylo dies, Rey will lose her power ?

Or will it be explain why the Force wanted to balance things for Ben Solo and not for Snoke ?

Did you see A New Hope? It's made clear that Luke was NEVER on the Falcon before. "What a piece of junk!" Leia didn't use the turret at all in the OT. You sure you watched the films? What about Finn who got kills with the turret? What about him?

Did they get them all down one after the other in just one shot ? I might have a look back. It seems than it took a lot of more time to Luke and Leia to get down the TIE Fighters.

It took a lot more shots to Finn too on Jakku.

What? Leia never used the turret in the films. What are you talking about?

The Tie's didnt even know she was coming. She was behind them all and they were taken out as an act of surprise.
Luke was in the mood? What does that mean? Luke was not defenseless. If he felt she would strike he would have simply pushed her away.

"Here's a weapon you've never used, and is completely different from your nifty sniper rifle. It's not a firearm at all. Oh, also, here's a blindfold, try to stop these multiple blaster bolts from this floating droid aiming at all sides. Four year olds used to do this flawlessly."

    1 minute later.

"Congratulations! You're a 20 year old with the skills most Jedi learn when they're 4!!"

that too! i was actually thinking about turning Ben and preventing the FO from pursuing the Resistance; that's what she left Ahch-To to do.
so there: she failed to get trained, she failed to bring Luke back, she failed to turn Ben and stop the FO.

    Oh yeah, that as well!

Frankly it's amazing that people think Rey is a Mary Sue- she fails at almost everything she does in this film, at least until the one point where it really matters.

The Force has always been an ex machina. it has never been anything but that.

Oh impossible shot for the X-Wing computers? Force can do it.
Stuck upside down by a wampa? Don't worry force can now pull things.
No training? Don't worry. Force ghosts.

They have consistently added to the force based on the need for the story. To act as if the force had a strong definition or boundaries in the films before TLJ is absolutely laughable and an honestly poor attempt at outrage over it.

Precisely. Rey's win against Kylo had been perfectly set up, establishing the bowcaster's power and also when Kylo warns the troopers about Rey testing her power and becoming stronger. Chances are that some people just did not connect the dots... I don't know. Or perhaps it is as simple as people not liking Rey, or Daisy's portrayal of her. For example, I heard one of my daughter's friends mention that she thought Rey was insufferable, very annoying and patronising towards Finn, a comment that surprised me a great deal, because I absolutely love Rey, her mannerisms, her warmth, her little bursts of impatience... I could not understand how something that was cute and endearing to me was offensive and insulting to another person....I don't know... I suppose I just have to accept that some people don't see things the way I see them, or do not receive stories and characters in the same way I do, and that's ok.

But what I can't hack is making force powers and their acquisition the measure of a good character or of good writing. It has been established from the onset that Rey is extremely accomplished in the force, a prodigy. In TFA the groundwork to give our heroin a victory at the end of the film was devised, because that is what the spectators wanted to see: the sad vulnerable orphan from Jakku discovering her powers and having an amazing victory.

Another thing that people need to understand is that Kylo DID NOT and DOES NOT want to kill Rey. He has compassion for her. Smoke said it. Kylo was at the defensive in TFA saber fight. Rey was attacking. That's why she bested him. It is obvious that Kylo is sheltering Rey from harm while Rey is becoming stronger. The question we should all be asking is not "why Rey never fails (in a force/physical sense)" but "why is Kylo not letting her fail."
