SPECULATION If Luke could come back to Jakku to find Rey, why didn't he/why didn't Rey go back and wait for him?

I enjoyed this analysis. Great work. The last point might be the most interesting one, that if Skywalker became a title earned by Jedi. I don't think they'll do that (just because the name is too iconic, I think you can get away with Revanchist being named after Revan but it probably won't fly with the Skywalker name because of it's proliferation in canonical movies as opposed to EU SW). Still an interesting idea.

 

I do not think Luke knows he had a daughter but he did. Who ever left her on Jakku was hiding her maybe even from Luke but certainly Snoke. I think the best story would be Luke visits Naboo to learn about his mom. Luke meets girl, gets her pregnant without knowing. This girl just happen to be decendant of Sideous. This makes Rey a descendent of Darth Vader and Darth Sideous. This is why she is more powerful than Kylo without training. Kylo had ONE force parent. Rey had two of the most powerful ever.

Rey mom dumps Rey on Jakku while running from Snoke, who is after her to make her apprentice. Snoke kills Rey mom for refusing to go Dark but never learns about Rey.

Hmmm, you know what. Leia must know Rey is Luke's daughter. Why would Leia trust some girl she just met with the most classified information ever? The location of the last Jedi, her brother, the last hope. Rey's history and amount of time Leia has known her was far to short for her to just trust Rey to go get Luke unless Leia knows or sensed something in the force.

 

Probably because she realizes she's force sensitive. Leia probably also realizes one important aspect for to Luke to return is to realize he needs to train new Jedi. Better to send Rey and Chewie.

Leia, her generals and all the resistance have to deal with the aftermath of the capital hosnian prime's destruction and are now the last line of defense against the first order. Leia might even be considered the defacto leader of the whole Republic due to Martial Law.
